I thought it was the 1990 Joeys team that was the ducks nuts leaking only one try? didn't they have Jorgo, Burke, Fay and possibly a Kelaher?
From memory 14/15 played NSW but Scott Bowen got the nod ahead of Fay.
'91 was very good as well but most would say '90 was better (with 7 Australian schoolboys including Jorgo and Burke)

Getting NRL players is great and all for the wallabies, but surely that money could be better spent on pathways for club union and even improving the public school systems union pathways?
The majority of the players they are going after were junior union players … all they are doing is correcting the error of letting them go in the first place … about time too

I love the rhetoric that they are correcting errors after letting them go in the first place, but wouldn't it make sense not to let the current ones leave and create the recurring cycle of having to overpay for the current school leavers in another 2/3 years time? That 1.6 mil would have easily been enough to keep Isaiya Katoa (Barker), Jesse Mclean (Newington) and Siteni Taukamo (Newington) with no doubt change left over. All 3 left GPS/CAS schools last year and went straight into top 30 full-time contracts at NRL clubs, representing the current junior union players we will more than likely be lamenting losing in a few years from now.

Have you ever considered that maybe some of these kids want to play league? The ARU paid Folau a fortune when he was in the Wallabies. Not only are they talented they are role models. I have heard that JS had a queue of kids lining up at the Waratahs brumbies game. I have seen both kings and other school kids lining up for autographs. Maybe if the Waratahs or wallabies actual won some games the kids would all flock to them. JS provides a great role model for every kid. Money well spent - we will see.

Besides all the kids that go to NRL are working, it is their job and how can you blame them. Every day people change jobs / companies for more money

It's worth noting the 8 could be playing U15.

Beyond impressive for an U15 player to be selected for a Joey's 1st XV team. Who was the last year 9 to have that honour?
Keen to see how he fairs out with the big boys. Something we don't see a lot at Joeys is younger kids playing the highest level, must be really something in him that separates him from other kids his age. Keen to see young Taumoepeau play and all the best to him.

He is a young year 10. I’m not sure who was the last but would guess it would be KB (Kurtley Beale) (Kurtley Beale) if it was anyone.
The last year 9 student to play 1st XV was Joseph Sua’ali’i

the last underage year 10 student was Jesse mclean. So eligible for under 15s while in year 10.

Very impressive effort for a player in the forwards especially. Wonder if he ends up in the 2nds with some boys being out and this is a trial. Good depth building with the 2 round season to see more players used.

Is he related to Pauli & Afusipa?
