I think Harry Darling is in Year 12 at Joeys?

Regarding the Under 16's, I'm not sure if School Summer Sports commitments would force some boys to decline this opportunity if selected (starts on 9th October). Plenty of plane travel as well.

This is great.

More good footy for the boys the better. I think we were seeing the benefit of this on the U20s prior to the Covid shut downs.

Not to talk down Summer Sport programs but if you are good enough to be selected in one of these teams you should be allowed to skip the odd Cricket game (heavy Rugby Forum bias). Might be a tug of war internally over a few very talented Sportsmen by coaches but Cmon. They wouldnt even question you if qualify for State & National Swimming, Athletics etc...

Think this is bit of a Joke, that might be one of the worst predictions I’ve seen.

More BS from someone without a clue but carrying a masssive chip on their shoulder. The two boys in my son's year who were on musical scholarships were both world class musicians.
Most schools offer ~20 academic and music scholarships per year to keep ATAR results high. It shows through in numbers when you go beyond that for sports.

I don't understand your point and I don't think you do either.

Schools that screen on sporting prowess and offer places to gifted kids ‘in those areas’ tend to have lower academic results. It’s a fairly uncontroversial ‘data backed’ observation isn’t it? Once again, it’s interesting to see how Kings seem to be sustaining results in rugby/athletics/ rowing and academics. PS: I have no affiliation with the school, and as always, the most important thing is growing boys of character, which all the schools are doing a great job in. Good to see some great Joeys talent get locked in with NSW.

Is your suggestion that Joeys offers 20 music and academic schoraships to every year group or 20 in total across yrs 7-12?

Joker - perhaps the "thread that will not die" should be re-opened. But then you will lose the coveted last post...
Don't care about losing the last post. All I know that is that talk about "scholar...." just drives people away as it attracts a style of post that we don't need here. As Cyclopath says, "we stay on the rugby". I will see what he has to say. I may be the "Prince of Darkness" but my role here is purely ceremonial.

I'm keen to see the Kings line up for 2023. Really excited to get out and watch them. Have known alot of the boys since their primary school days, so happy to see them fulfilling their rugby dreams!
