Just watched Scots v Shore back on Clutch.

Notes:
- Scot's moving Jaques to 15 and Fitla to 13 was a very good move. 12 was a very solid player and strong ball carrier.
- Scot's scrum was very shaky
- Scot's lineout was poor, they found success when going to the front. (Jumpers technique needs work all around)
- Shore backs stepped up
- Shore will struggle to win games consistently.

Pretty good game overall, with a lot of scrums with little free-flowing. Selectors must find a way to put Jaques into the GPS 1s team at either 13 or 15.

Scots vs Shore 16As meant to be a good game haven't heard any scores but know Scots won, any standouts from either team or calls to make GPS or Presidents sides?

Hello Jack O'Brien.

I was a spectator at the fixture on Saturday. To my demise Scots managed to pull away with a good win against Shore. Although being drawn at half time, TSC managed to pull through and obtain the victory.

I would also like to mention that there was an oddly small crowd for a GPS fixture.

Nevertheless, both sides are looking strong this year. Scots looking like some serious contenders for next year premiership with a lot of their star players being in Year 11.

2024 AAGPS Tipping Comp Winner
1. Prior (Joeys)
2. Ghattas (Joeys)
3. Davenport (Kings)
4. Green (Joeys)
5. Fonua (Kings)
6. / 7 Massey (Joeys)
6./7 ? There is a decent option from Newington but I am unsure of the name.
8. Taumaupau Joeys)
9. Grover (View)
10. Fowler (Joeys)
11. Farah (Kings)
12. Gough (Joeys)
13. Hartman (View)
14. Kynan (Joeys)
15. Palmisani (Joeys)

Prior, Massey and Gough are all currently injured so they might run out of time to play for a spot. Ghattas and Green are the only 2 Joeys players currently playing in the 16’s team, the rest are injured or opens. Most of the others names are currently playing opens as well. The majority here all played Sydney U15’s and were amongst it for U15 Gen Blue trials. No doubt there are some other names worthy of consideration and some will say that the list is too heavily favoured to Joeys …. But the for and against in 15’s last year explains why it is that way. Apologies if I’ve spelt names incorrectly.
This is very interesting.
I have lots of different views on this.
I think this team should be called riverjoekings not AAGPS u16s because the only players from this team are from riverview joeys and kings.
This team is missing players from Scots Shore and Newington and there is certainly
some talent from those teams that definitely deserve to get picked in these teams.
Makasini (Newington) plays outside backs and i heard he debuted for the Newington 1sts yesterday and have also seen him play high level representative rugby league

Grantham (Newington) I haven’t had the chance to watch Grantham play but i’ve heard he is quite the fullback and has played very high level representative rugby league aswell.

Large (Scots) I heard he plays inside centre for the Scots 1st 15 and is an amazing player for his age. He also played high level representative rugby league aswell.

Those 3 are names that i have heard go around a lot and i’m sure there’s much more talent in this age group from those 3 teams you missed that could quite easily be picked for this team.
This age group seems to be one of the most talented age groups in a while with Fowler and Justice from Joeys playing 1st 15
There is a number 8 and a number 10 from kings that plays in the seconds and runs on for the firsts that i’ve heard to be quite talented players
Large playing for the 1sts for Scots
Makasini Debuted for newington yesterday
Hartman from newington playing 1sts
Shore seems to be the weakness of this age group with none of there players in the opend squad but with their new rugby program they might seem to improve a lot.

Probably a good thing they will pick Presidents A and B. I know there are a number of players on that list that won’t be available due to injury as well.

isn’t justice 15? If so most likely won’t be allowed to be selected for 16s a very weird rule but this has been the case in previous years for players.

He is young for the age group but don't see any reason why they wouldn't let him? Even if it has been the case before surely a 1sts players for joeys can be an exception.

doubt they’ll make any exceptions sadly, the only possibility most likely he’ll have is for him to make a gps opens side like Joseph Sua'ali'i did in 2018.

Did anyone get to watch the kings 2nds yesterday, if you haven’t it’s a must watch!

the number 10 Ben sewyar in my eyes should be a lock for presidents. He has just been class all season, there are lots of wraps on young jonty Fowler but right now I don’t see how you can pick anyone but sewyar. If you watch this you’ll understand the reasons for the hype.

he was picked over jonty aswell in gen blue 15s last year so I think he will get the nod as the starting 10.
Big difference between 1st XV and 2nd XV. Sewyars defence is a concern

3rd XV Round 1 Report

Grammar 11 d Joeys 10

The Rushcutters Bay premiership graveyard continues for Joeys after losses to Grammar in 2018 (5-7), 2020 (14-17) and now a one point loss in 2023 (10-11). Joeys led for most of the match with an early try in the first half and went to the break up 7-3. The teams traded penalty goals in the second half with Joeys retaining a 10-6 lead until the 38th minute. Grammar showed excellent attacking speed down the right side with a brilliant winger's try in the corner and that was the match. Joeys seemed to be able to make breaks the whole game that they could not convert into points. The Grammar defence was very solid and their patience paid diviends in the end with a hard fought first round victory. Well done Grammar! They travel to Lane Cove next week for a crucial top of the table clash with Riverview, while Joeys need to rebound against Shore at Hunters Hill if they are to have any chance this season.

A great opening round indeed with more great rugby to come.

I have heard that Riverview 3s v Grammar is also at Leichhardt Oval
