According to Piglet on the CAS site, Newington running red hot over Trinity. 8 Tries to 1, As stated in an earlier post this Newington side is a far better team than results indicate.
FT: Joeys 43 Knox 17. 31 nil to Joeys in 2nd Half.
Was the wind a factor or fitness, or both or did the Joeys coach give a great half time address?
Nice surprises like this are the best surprises.
Two 16As were promoted to the 1sts for this game. Sounds like it's making a difference.
Hello, Come on Ref, Do you have the final score for the 1sts and 2nds, Many thanks if they could be providedTheir 10 was outstanding today, His first game back from injury , 12,13,14 just way to fast,
As the 34-0 nil score line suggests, Scots 3 were clearly the better team, but it wasn't quite one sided as the score would suggest.
The two teams were pretty equal in the forwards. It was the big and fast Scots backs throwing the ball round who did the damage. The TAS boys tackled well and never gave up, but when a tackle was missed Scots quickly gained an overlap. They also used the kick well on two occasions. On the few occasions when TAS could molest properly, weaknesses showed up.
TAS lacked penetration. ...
To my mind, and i don't pretend expertise now, the TAS backs weren't playing well today. There were too many handling errors, long passes, too much running back into traffic. There weren't the multiple passes and penetration that has made the TAS backs dangerous in recent years. On the positive side, they tackled and tackled, with Scots denying them the opportunity to settle and play a more open game.
Many thanks, Come on RefI think 1st 51-7
2nds 48-0

^^^1 1/2 wins clear after 1 round!
Yeah wow. There are at least 5 guys in Scots 3s who would make a decent account of themselves if thrown a 1sts jumper. Great depth.View attachment 9954
Just in case Father Jim missed out on a printed version!
His TAS lads should feel pretty comfy in this Northern Tablelands (Arctic!) weather.
Wouldn’t surprise to see a fur seal blown in over the southern boundary fence!
Scots 3’s doing the job though. At oranges, Scots lead 15-0.
