NSW teams still an issue for NRC, all other states are putting out good teams (although Brisbane City on paper looks ok have been pretty ordinary, particularly defence wise).

There are plenty of very good players in both these teams.

Lack of preparation is telling for both NSW sides.

And should remember it is a development competition with the intention to give up and coming players some exposure at this level.

Well, I'm damned if I can see any up and coming players in either squad who would be a chance of making a super team in the next year or two. Apart from those players who already turn out spasmodically for the Tahs, they are both very weak squads.

Here at Leichhardt Oval for the cripple fight between the Eagles and Rays. WTF the NRC continue to use this dilapidated ground I don't know, I thought the connection with Balmain RC and LO died along with the Stars' demise.

Eagles take two scrums instead of penalties 23m out straight away in front. Make that three. 10 mins gone.

Cam Bethan from the Rays carded. Vui goes on for the next scrum at 12:50. Gordon goes in under the posts. 13:30 7-0

Eagles scrum 10m in front of their posts. Gordon clears back up to half way but not out. Eagles out of danger.

Rays try the under-the-posts caper, via Vui. Eagles 21 Rays 12 at HT. A very cold wind's blown up here and I'm under-dressed, I'm off home.
