When: Sunday 9 October - 2pm Kick off
Where: Ballymore
Why?: The battle for the wooden spoon!

Plenty on the line this Sunday at Ballymore for the local derby to end all local derbies. With the weather forecast for Sunday to be a delightful (as long as you're not playing) mostly sunny and 28 degrees, and a very family friendly 2pm kick off, this could potentially draw a good sized crowd for the last game of the season.

Country will be keen to notch up their first win over their 'big brother' having never beaten City in the NRC. City on the other hand will desperately want to avoid going from back to back champions to Wooden Spooners.

Who's going? Who are you going for? What's your tip?

Both teams have performed quite poorly this year, but there have been a number of individual performances that i thought were quite good. So i selected a combined QLD team, most of the selections were quite easy, blindside and number 6 seem to be the area lacking though:

1. Pettowa Paraka
2. Andrew Ready
3. Sam Talakai
4. Izack Rodda
5. Luckhan Tui
6. ?
7. ?
8. Isi Naisarani
9. James Tuttle
10. Mack Mason
11. Alex Gibbon
12. Duncan Paia'aua
13. Tyrone Lefau
14. Izaia Perese
15. Tom Banks

I've been pleasantly surprised by Angus Scott-Young. I think he'd probably been one of the form backrowers in the Qld teams.

No idea about an openside though which is making me concerned about next year.

Rowan Perry perhaps.

28-22 halftime with City leading.. the usual suspects playing well or making an impact; Tui, Tupou, Paraka

No change to this following today IMO...
Tupou obviously has a lot of impact, but Talakai is more of a complete package ATM..Reg mentioned Angus Scott Young for blindside, Gunn was the better open side but didn't really have much impact on the game

Credit to McIntyre today. Played direct more often & laid on about 5 try assists; some easy some not so. The ball to Toby White off the lineout on halfway was perfect, timing and delivery. Haven't seen that consistently enough hopefully he can bring back more of that.

Defence from both sides was atrocious, not much between the 2.

Yeah makes me wonder whether he looked better because of the poor defence or whether he actually played better... I'm glad Jake actually attacked the line though, the backline looks 100% better when he threatens to run at the line before passing. Far too often this season he merely just shovelled the ball onto those outside him, rarely attracting defenders or stopping the defence from sliding, but he managed to do it a few times In this game.
