Given up watching the Rising, they keep not taking the comp seriously and putting out weak sides to get smashed

Who's actually missing from the Rebels? They're not holding that many players back are they?
Luke Jones & Maddocks are with the Wallabies and the rest of the regular Rebels gold contingent.
Leota, Rangi, RHP, Hardwick are all playing.
Tuipuluto, English, Jeffries, Ruru and a host of others have left.
Meakes & Philip should be playing but that's all I can see.

From this team Philip, Meakes, Goddard, Magnay, Cottrell and Hosea. This will also be the first appearance of Hardwick and Leota so at least that’s a positive.

Throw Cottrell into that backrow with Meakes, Goddard and Magnay in the back line suddenly it’s a pretty good NRC team, with still several opportunities for new talent

Good looking squad.

Pleasing to see Prior starting and Thrush off the bench.

Strong inclusions of trial and local club rugby players.

I reckon the WF are going for points boost.

Interested to see how Iona goes at FH against his old team.

I thought Goddard was rumoured off and didn't know about Cottrell's status either.

Cottrell is still around he was at the first NRC game supporting the guys on the sideline.

Goddard is still around, he’s still training with the extended squad and living with Brad Wilkin but it’s a strange one with the new signings. I still have a suspicion he will pop up in the 7s camp.

Wilkin btw is back running only recently.

Jones and Maddocks didn’t make the World Cup squad they were added to the squad to play the Samoa test and that’s it. They should be available now. Add them to all the names Rebels3 mentioned that aren’t getting a game and that’s a lot of talent not out there

Well even if those two are we have a high number of players sitting out. I think it’s disrespectful to our opponents and the competition

A NRC squad was announced pre-season which contained 14 of the Melbourne Rebels squad
It did not include Meakes and Goddard.

11 of this group have been named in the team to play the Western Force.
i.e. the 8 Forwards + Tupou, Sa'aga and Faulkner.
The 3 missing are Cottrell, Hosea and Philip.

The issue we are trying to point out is that prior to this week 3 of those guys haven’t played a minute, then of the remaining 8 that have played 5 of them are props. You obviously can’t fit them on the field at once, so only a max of 5 contracted players have been on the field at any one time. That’s 1/3 of the team actually getting paid to play the other 2/3 has been made up of amateur players. It’s not good enough from a fans point of view and also lacks respect for the competition.

It’s nice to see the team this week more reflective of what I believe most fans would rather see, with the provision they could still integrate more.

Force much more skilled than Rising, Iona has been pretty shocking for Melbourne with lots of dropped balls. Rangi's radar has been well off too, can't build anything giving the ball away constantly. Force much better, but yee haw can Faulkner run. Prop's got wheels.

Ref also needs to let advantage play. Both teams have had some good attack snuffed because he's called the penalty too early.
