Also, didn't mention but it was Folau Fainga'a's last game for Clermont. I think he mentioned he wanted a full pre-season with the 'Tahs. Assuming it's coincidental timing and we won't see him added to the Wallabies.

Yeah I think Dan Carter would look terrible for Perpignan.
Just had a look, 3 yellow cards for Perpignan and an Orange (20 minute red) for Montauban, along with 15 penalties conceded by both sides. Dan Carter probably would've still looked okay with all the shots at goal he'd get, but that is a messy bloody game.

Average showings for Aussies in T14 Round 8.

Good news everyone! Jordan Petaia returned to union this weekend! Bad news everyone! He sucked! Tbf first game back for the worst team in the comp currently 0-8.

"The Australian international returned to the 15 man game after a stint in American football and is discovering a new club and a new country. There are no shortage of mitigating circumstances when it comes to judging his first start. But it's clear that the Wallaby's performance was inadequate: he was too much of a spectator for the first try, he was caught out several times in defense, and he failed to create a spark with the rare opportunities he was handed".

Simmons, Fainga'a, Newsome, Powell, Maddocks, Hewat, Uelese, Banks all unremarkable. What is remarkable is it's Joe Powell's first time being not terrible.

Injured: Leota, Swinton, Hodge, McIntyre, Simone, Coleman

Latu, Skelton and Vunivalu not selected.
DCT I like your summaries of Aussies in action, but wonder if the assessments are yours or are you conveying the comments of journalists/commentators over there?

The reason I ask, is that in another report it claims Fainga'a left the field to a standing ovation. Not what I'd expect from an unremarkable rating.

Perhaps because it is his final game?

Mostly the comments of the journalists, not mine! Specifically from Le Midi Olympique. I scan their articles and read the comments to practice my French and keep up to date on the T14, sadly can't watch many of the games anymore.

Yeah Folau scored a try in his final moment of his final game hence the standing ovation.
