Hopefully Channel Numpty will do as good a job at Rugby as Ten did with their RWC 07 coverage with Bill Woods, Tune etc. Worries me being the Mungo Channel though.

I have no confidence in Ch Nein to cover anything well. They have no understanding of rugby and will have to bring talent in to cover it I think.

Woollarah. TG Milner. North Sydney.

The TNSS Final has been moved to Concord Oval- Home of the tallest rugby posts in the world!

But why do they position the main TV cameras in the main grandstand where that bloody roof support (or whatever it is) always gets in the way?

Move them somewhere else, or move the support!

They are absurdly large, but I was always told they were only the tallest posts in the southern hemisphere. Does anyone know which grounds are bigger?

As long as it does not get to the streamed on the FOXSPORTS website only stage, i will be happy. I can always press the mute button and make up my own words to what Rocky Elsom is saying, usually involves insulting the Refs wife.

Wouldn't surprise me if they just rebroadcast Foxs coverage which the excellent Kafer aside, is awful but could be worse if they wheel out JP on game days instead of just the Rugby Club on Weds night.

Not having a clue about Sydney Rugby, what is Concord used for these days? Does it have lights?

Where've you been the last few years, Ruggo? Obviously not reading my posts.

Concord Oval's home to the mighty West Harbour Pirates, as it's been for the last 110 years. Concord does have lights but they can't be used for matches, only training. For years a couple of locals have staunchly objected to night matches at Concord and the local council has always sided with them. In addition to Pirates' matches Concord's the training ground for Wests Tigers; the council make quite a few quid from this arrangement and as it's only during the week it's a very good use of a public sporting facility.

Who has been the best TV Rugby Commentator you have ever heard?

I vote Bill McLaren for the Hall of Fame. .....

Bill McLaren, Richie Benaud, Murray Walker. Three of the absolute legends of TV Sport.

Some of the best from Bill:
*It’s high enough, it’s long enough AND IT’S STRAIGHT ENOUGH.

*He’s like a demented ferret up a wee drainpipe.

*He plays like a runaway bullet (description of New Zealand wing Grant Batty).

*He’s like a raging bull with a bad head.

*That one was a bit inebriated – just like one of my golf shots (description of a missed goal kick).

*He kicked that ball like it were 3 pounds o’ haggis.

*Would ye like a Hawick ball, son ? (McLaren offering a friend a mint).

*They’ll be dancing in the streets of Hawick/Selkirk/ [insert appropriate town] tonight

*His sidestep was marvellous – like a shaft of lightning (description of Welsh wing Gerald Davies).

*The All Blacks that day looked like great prophets of doom.

*I was there (at Twickenham) in 1938 when Scotland won 28-16.

*‘Tweet, tweet, tweet’ – commentary on Scottish full-back Peter Dods’ strange run up to a penalty kick.

*My goodness, that wee ball’s gone so high there’ll be snow on it when it comes down.

*He’s as quick as a trout up a burn.

*Those props are as cunning as a bag o’ weasels.

*A day out of Hawick is a day wasted.

*And it’s a try by Hika the hooker from Ngongotaha (Wales v New Zealand 1980).

*I’m no hod carrier but I’d be laying bricks if he was running at me (description of Jonah Lomu).

*They’ll be simply chuffed to bits down at??.

*I look at Colin Meads and see a great big sheep farmer who carried the ball in his hands as though it was an orange pip.

*I’ve hardly ever had to pay to get in (the best thing in his view about 50 years of commentary at rugby matches).
