WaratahJesus has mentioned he is on the look out for a new job. Think he would be perfect. Tom Carter captain.

dont see him as a captain, he leads by example anyway.

foley has long been promised it, otherwise he would be at the reds and ewen wouldnt be in charge. interesting to see the fallout if he doesnt get it.

Any chance a guy like Rob Penny from Canterbury might be in the mix. Proven coach at provincial level (albeit with a pretty handy team)?

What would be really useful would be to get a deep insight into how the Crusaders prepare their teams: physical conditioning, training regimes, mental approaches and game plans. They are certainly the benchmark.

You would think that all Oz provinces would have been able to access that through The Master Coach Deans. If he hasn't been forthcoming what is he getting paid for, or perhaps there are no secrets just forwards trained as forwards, backs as backs and basic skills execution trained until it is second nature regardless of conditions and pressure.

I thought this was the whole point of Deans...

Can we change this thread title to the SACK Chris Hickey Thread Mark II. May as well get a new coaching regime bedded in this year. No use having a caretaker for the rest of this year, I will go out on a limb and call this season over now. The whole team just goes to sleep, or on holidays, or thinking about their bank balance every couple of games. A big big clean-out is required, from the bottom to the top.

The missus pointed out tonight that when the refs lose, they seem to lose fighting, but when the tags lose, the lose disgracefully. This has to fall at the coaches feet, right? The lack of composure, lack of leadership, lack of application.

I assume you mean Reds and Tahs.

There is something rotten in the whole Tahs set up. How many years have the Tahs fans been putting up with this crap. A very very good start to the season, they fall in a heap for a couple of games and then struggle for mediocrity for the rest of the season. They have had consistently had the best roster in Oz and always display very bad skill levels and application for large parts of each season. Without a total cleanout, and some big big changes we can expect that this will continue.

Unfortunately so many players who promised so much have gone missing - coach has to take some responsibility for this alarming drop off.

i dont think there is to much rotton, the tahs have played a fair few combinations through the backline due to injury, the injury bug has not been kind and i think the tahs talked up there depth a bit to much before the season started.

with the best 15 on the paddock i think the tahs can win the comp, i think if they lose a couple of key players (waugh, berrick, palu, TPN) the rest of the players drop there shoulders a bit (with the exception of drew and burgo) but really consistantcy doesnt seem to be something the extended squad is familiar with.

I've heard that the Tahs are looking at paying out Richard Graham's contract with the Force so they can snaffle him for themselves...

Excuses. Be off with you. Every team has suffered numerous injureis and this situation was expected prior to the start of the season. That may explain this season, if you want to accept that. What about the last 15 years which have been a mirror image of this one?

If thats the case I will finally resign my Tahdom after more than 30 years and burn my Tahs jerseys and memorabilia.

the tahs have had a pretty good run, made the finals, been beaten by some pretty good teams, as a fan im dissapointed in them losing when they have, but ive never looked at the team and thought, fark, this ones in the bag this year. I started supporting them when they got beaten every week, when winning a lineout was cheered, ive been there through far worse. its not an excuse, the depth of the tahs has been tested and been fond wanting, that says that the recruitment, conditioning and gmae plan needs attention, but the roof isnt falling in week in week out like people like to bang on about. Ewen got booed out of sydney and found himself in brisbane at a pretty good time with alot of players on the cusp and he gets total credit. i remember the sack ewen brigade down here for the same reasons people bang on about hickey. the tahs have beent he only aussie team in the last 5 to look like even having a chance of taking the crown. its one thing to say call an enquiry and change every position, but its another to actually question if the cattle in australia could win the comp? could the wallaby team even win this comp?

I would say start at the top and go from there. Despite losing Beale and a couple others, Tahs still have a solid player base, they need a good coach.

As WJ highlights, he remembers the sack Ewen brigade for the same reasons many including me call for Hickey's head. Does he or others stop and ask why, no matter who is coach, or with player turnover the same results in terms of poor play and application comes out time and time again. No all we get is a yearly round of excuses about injuries, or good opposition.

I have said too many times to count, I am not interested so much in winning. I am concerned about HOW they play. If the Tahs execute the basic skills at a professional level and play with a decent level of application the results will follow. Tonight we saw 30 minutes of acceptable performance. Against the Cheetahs we saw about 5 minutes. Against the Crusaders we saw 15 minutes. Is it acceptable that this is the case? Sacking Hickey is no more the panacea for what ails the Tahs than sakcing Mackenzie, Dwyer or the umpteen other mentors was. It is a starting point. From there clean out the whole support staff and the board. Start again, rebuild the organisation top down or bottom up it doesn't matter but the whole culture of the Tahs has to change, just as Graham voiced about the Force having a losing culture, the Tahs have a culture where such performances are excused for some reason or another and the coach will eventually cop it over them.

agree in principle with you gnostic, so the question is, you clean out, new board, new couches, they get a young squad together to build or mold, they recruit different players, this new master team comes out and says, "have no expectations, where building for four years time" do they get that time?, how are they judged?, do you as a fan dont care if they get beaten by 30 night in night out if they are trying?
