Pretty difficult for a Bok fan to just put saturdays test behind you after what has happened. But thye TriNations is a war and every test a battle in the war. So far so good for the Bokke and they are one battle away from winning a war.

They have done more then what was expected from them in Perth in clinch that much important four try bonus point victory but they still have not win the war and they also havent produce a full out 80 minutes effort. Maybe the 7 point win will remind them that they need a extra bit to go full out to win this war.

There is also one good reminder about this one, called Brisbane and not less then 8 of the current lot played in the previous visit and had to feel the hurt of 49-0 drubbing they recieved. Thats where Pierre Spies started his international rugby and hopefull when they run on the field they will remember the last visit.

JP Pietersen and Bekker already on their way home , so one interesting change in the run on team and Pakslae surely will replace Bekker.

PB. What's this guy like who the Waratahs have just signed - Hendrik Roodt? Do you think he'll be a good buy for them?

Was at the Springbok's press conference in BrisVegas this afternoon with Juan Cote to hear PdV 'spread the gospel'. Was interesting to see and hear him in the flesh. Nothing too outlandish but certainly a unique character. There's a few injury concerns. JC is going to post a piece on it shortly.

To be honest I dunno Roodt that well. He played for the Emerge Bokke when they still was the Emergency Bokke to be honest.

Snor sure is a very down to earth kind of person, well in Paarl at least and will be at ease in afrikaans. I have met him a few times here attending the kids rugby and cricket matches and mixing well with the young ones.

Have the Boks ever won in Brisbane? If so, could be a good chance to break the duck.

My side for BrisVegas:

1. Robinson
2. Moore
3. Alexander
4. Sharpe
5. Chisolm
6. Elsom
7. Smith
8. Palu
9. Genia
10. Cooper
11. Mitchell
12. Barnes
13. Giteau
14. Hynes
15. AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper)

16. TPN
17. Horwill
18. Baxter
19. Mumm
20. Pocock
21. JOC (James O'Connor)
22. Turner

I'm going for a 5/2 bench split with forwards and backs to keep the intensity up (Gits to cover scrum half). Horwill is demoted due to being below par. Gits is at 13. Why you say? Because the 9, 10, 12 is the QLD combo and I want to play centres and halves who can actually pass the ball and exploit gaps - I hate this stupid running directly at the opposition. Gits at 13 would bring the Aussie wingers and fullback into the game and we'd see 15 man rugby.

AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) to provide the running power from full back. Hynes to provide strong running through the middle when required off set piece.

Giteau at 13 isn't a bad move. we'd get awesome width.

Re: Next appointment: Brisbane

I'm intrigued by this comment by Rocky Elsom: "It doesn't feel like 2005,'' he said. ''We had some pretty big problems then, which helped us get into that big hole. We don't have those same problems now. In 2005, everyone tried really hard, and it wasn't as if anyone gave up at any stage." (http://www.rugbyheaven.com.au/news/news/wallabies-to-dig-deep/2009/08/30/1251570623137.html)

The clear implication of those words being that he doesn't think everyone is trying really hard now, and that he believes some Wallabies are just giving up during games. Maybe I'm reading too much into it.

I'm a foolishly biased reds fan and I really can't see the good here. Why are we calling for players who were part of the worst performers in S14 to run the show. Seems a bit weird :nta:

It'll be interesting to see how the Brissy locals treat Barnes when his name gets read out.

They're won't be a problem. As there wasn't when Moore and Sharpe and even Dell came back to play tests.

Re: Next appointment: Brisbane

Another milestone for saturday , Jaques Fourie 50th test.
Superrugby
major milestone for top-class Fourie

Saturday's test between the Springboks and the Wallabies in Brisbane will be a major landmark in a top-class career for Jaque Fourie. But it has also been a career with more than a fair share of misfortune in it for the 26-year-old.

Fourie will play his 50th test on Saturday, but would have reached the landmark far earlier were it not for the fact that he is currently on his third comeback from injury. After making his debut in the 2003 World Cup in Australia, the Gauteng Lions star missed the Tri-Nations in 2004 with a groin hernia. He returned to the Green and Gold for the end-of-year tour and enjoyed his longest injury-free run, all the way to September 2006, before he broke his hand just days before the trip to Ireland and England. Fourie returned and played through 2007, before missing last year's Tri-Nations due to a broken cheekbone.

"Ja, it's been an up-and-down career with a lot of injuries, but the last year has been good and we've had some memorable wins. It's a great privilege to play 50 tests for your country," Fourie said.

The Monument high school product has been party to one of the most successful eras in Springbok rugby, and has been one of its most celebrated players, his lethal combination of pace, power and vision in midfield making him one of the most respected figures in the world game.

And, he believes his injuries and the recent indecision coach Peter de Villiers has gone through in terms of whether to pick him or Adrian Jacobs at outside centre have actually been beneficial.

"God allows things to happen for a reason and I don't take anything for granted. But after every injury I've come back bigger, stronger and faster and it's how you stand up after setbacks that matters.

"And having someone like Adi Jacobs around means you can't rest, it makes you work harder and it's great to have that sort of competition for places in the team," Fourie said.

There has also, of course, been confusion over where exactly the Carletonville-born Fourie will be playing his rugby next year, his name being linked with Western Province during the flurry of potential new signings that was made public at the start of silly season. But the player himself is unfazed.

"I don't think very often about where I'll be playing next year, I'll just enjoy my rugby wherever I'm playing. Right now I'm just concentrating on us winning the Tri-Nations."

And when Fourie focuses on something, special things tend to happen thanks to his never-say-die attitude.

"The mind is a powerful thing and I believe when you set your mind to something, you will achieve it. I want to be one of the best number 13s in the world and then I want to stay there."

Fourie was one of the poor Springboks who featured in the 49-0 drubbing the last time they played in Brisbane, but he says returning to the Suncorp Stadium is not a scary prospect.

"In 2006 that was a bad day for Springbok rugby, we really got killed, but it's 2009 now and we're a totally different team, we've grown a lot and have more experience. We're playing the best rugby we have in a long time and South African rugby is very healthy at the moment."

Fourie added that there were no thoughts of going out to avenge that loss on Saturday.

"I never live in the past and that match has played no part in our motivation. Hopefully we'll have a good game on Saturday and win the Tri-Nations, that's our motivation."
