Bring Petaia in from the bench.
We all know how good he is, but players need to be rewarded for playing well.

And it will give Paisami, Daugunu and Koroibete some extra fire knowing Petaia's sitting behind them waiting to take their spot.

I can’t drop Hunter after that performance. My plan would be to start Jordie in TRC as part of ‘rotations’ and let him grab the jersey from there.

Was pleasantly surprised by Paisami.

I thought he might get exposed at test level, but he made smart reads on defence all day and looks to be physically up for it.

Hope we can get him back to the Rebels one day.

I wouldn’t, his cannon is way too valuable with 10 to go.

I know he had the wind behind him but that kick of his hit 3/4s of the way up 60 out. The other thing it does is stop the ABs going to hard at the ball for fear of a penalty.

Which was kind of my point. Hodge isn't the talent of Petaia, but he doesn't break like Petaia and barring 1 degree of accuracy (and a short list of questionable refereeing) we could be talking a 1-nil lead in Bledisloe 2020.

Not that I think we really deserve it with that lineout and ruck work.

Fuck me he actually lies down as he plucks the ball from the middle of the ruck. It's like he was trying to break as many rules in a single play as possible.

As a ref: that ball was out of the ruck off a Wallaby knee. To'omua technically can't put it back in the ruck.

We did that several times during the game (Slipper's shin twice) so with Williams doing his best to make zero calls, it was up to us to secure the ball better.

Williams is a non-interventionist ref, and inconsistent as shit as well. His ARs didn't help him because at that stage, nobody wanted to be responsible for the result.

Still boils my piss.

White, Samu, Banks and Koroibete all had forgettable first halves but improved significantly as the game went on. Let's not forget this was the first game of the season and we drew with the All Blacks at home, care of some shocking refereeing blunders. The only change I'd be inclined to make is to replace Simmons with LITERALLY ANYBODY.
I don’t think that is fair on any of them. White was outstanding, poking around the fringes and keeping the ABs honest. SAMU was busy at the breakdown and in defence, doing a lot of the unseen work. I thought Banks was assured under the high ball but did not get involved in the attack enough. His time is now and he looked very solid.
Korobeite had little opportunity in the first half as all our ball went down the right hand side but he came into his own every time he was called on, as usual.

Does it?
how many 50+ metre kicks have actually been successful?
Not potting him, just suggesting it’s not as important as some make out.

Fozzie gave all the guilty parties that fluffed their lines at RWC a shot at redemption.

The hapless fucking pricks went and fluffed their lines again.

Even worse this time, it was at home against a young, green Aussie team.

Gorge Bridge. No. Caleb Clarke/Will Jordan please. FFS just go away, Scott Hamilton Lite.
Dmac. No. Not a test level anything.
Ardie. No. Just too damn small. Sotutu please.
Dick Frizzle. No. Just too damn timid. Akira/Papalii/Big Red please. Next test is at Eden Park ffs. Those 3 will be exploding out of their nutsacks to fuck someone's shit up.

I honestly don't get how Jordie Barrett gets a gig. As far as i can tell he gets picked coz he's a bit tall.

I wouldn't drop Paisami for Petaia for next week. I thought he went quite well and defended terrifically. Loved the hit on Moung who looked a little rattled.

Best hit on Moanga was by To'omua. Paisami was solid, made few if any errors but didn't really test the defense at all. Petaia at 133 next week forme.

It was interesting that when Simmons came on for Wilson, LSL (Lukhan Salakaia-Loto) went to 8 and Samu went to 6. Strange in the context of the game but maybe some longer term implications for when the 2 OS players join the squad.
I for one will be pretty annoyed if anyone who left Australia is brought back, this game is the perfect opportunity to say thanks but no thanks, we will breed our own test players in our own country. Seek as much money as you want overseas but we will select those who stay.

If NZ are considered the best in the world and we stuck it to them at home, why bring in players from overseas?
