I will say I thought the ref stitched us up in the scrum. gave the All Blacks two free kicks on our feed before they even packed down. But the most telling moment was when the Wallabies had a clear push over scrum late in the game and he refused to give us a penalty. literally 2 minutes later the all blacks do the same thing and he puts the arm out. It was clear inconsistency for me.

I thought the Wallabies deserved to win tbh

Can Rob Simmons please move on from Aussie rugby? He had the ref barking in his ear from a metre away, yet couldn’t register in his head. Time for the new crop of players.

We can only assume the ref wasn’t in a position to see it because you can be assured he would have pinged us if he was.

Yeah, could have been one down the other end too. And that was off the back off an unusual 'advantage'.

AB's seemed underprepared for the conditions. Had no idea under the high ball first half. Serious lack of leadership at the end. It's pissing rain and 2m out. Keep it fucking tight!

Drop Ioane, unforgivable shit that is. His arrogance after his first year has overstepped his talent. Bench the 10 that doesn't kick and pick the more talented 10 that doesn't kick.

Also how good that we even could win that. We gave away some of the dumbest penalties, mindless kicking and shit passing. Ref bizarre calls and we still deserved the W. I’m liking it.
In the 2019 and 2017 wins we got off to very fast starts with the bounce of the ball going our way. We just ground them out and dominated physically for the majority of the match. Very good signs.

Jesus that was squeaky bum time.

15. Damian McKenzie. get this ragdoll fuckup merchant OUT of my All Black team.
13. Rieko Ioane. throw the cnut in Cook Strait for that showpony bullshit
11. George Bridge. ineffective passenger. NOT an All Black strike winger.
8. Ardie Savea. zero impact. Owned.
7. Sam Cane (c). is he really the captain? I think it might actually be TJ Perenara.....
6. Shannon Frizell. ffs. the opposite of impactful. Goes backwards on attack AND defence.
5. Sam Whitelock. undynamic. running on fumes but the cupboard is bare.
4. Patrick Tuipulotu. lilted, wilted and vanished at this level. Again.

Yeh honestly I cringed when I saw Simmons come on the field late in the game. That mindless penalty at the end was embarrassing

Uh huh

Look as a general rule, coaches shouldn't make any career-ending decisions on the basis of one game, let alone the first game of the season. However, when a player has built a reputation over a decade for giving away dumb penalties, and then comes on and gives away a dumb penalty, costing his team a win against the best team in the world, it's hard to make the case that he shouldn't be fired (out of a cannon, into the sun).

Why wasn’t the koribetes steal brought back for knock on advantage? Someone will know the rules better than me

Apparently advantage over. I never heard him call it till after the weasel strip though and one phase later is a bit rough. Some of the All Black knock on advantages he let run for quite a while.

Angus Gardner missed a massive foot in touch for Ioane's try, and the most blatant ruck penalty of the game in the 84th minute by the All Blacks 19, right in front of the sticks. Just dreadful.

The ruck penalty was pretty poor.
