Kearns seems to be channeling one of another Phil's pre-Origin spiels. Needs to work on both his pomposity and hyperbole, though. Can't see why it would upset anyone, unless they're looking for something to get upset about.

To me, the irony of his opening bit seemed pretty obvious. I agree, if that offends, you're trying really hard.

Cooler head?

Fuck me. It never ceases to amaze me how much people will just eat something up as a fact if the media say it enough.

Foley has unfortunately had very poor decision making and execution under pressure in 2016. What concerns me most is that when he makes a bad error (everybody makes them from time to time so he's no Robinson Crusoe) he seems to make the same error again in very quick succession.

Somebody please correct me if I'm wrong, but from my memory Foley has given more opposition tries directly of his kicks or passes than he has wallaby tries this test season.

I just don't know where that translates into a "cooler head". Perhaps compared to Donald Trump.
Foleys kicks i straight to the opposition back three in bled 1 was a horror show on repeat loop. Bad enough first time but again and again was horrible.

I can't see anything wrong with Kearnsie's ad or whatever it is, nothing at all, everyone has to remember it just a park like everywhere else they play rugby. And like many major parks it isn't situated in the most expensive real estate.
He even reminds us he never won there, and I buggered if I know why it has been so hard for other teams to win there, apart from the fact they are playing the All Blacks! I can guarantee Chucka will be telling the Wallabies exactly the same thing as I expect him too!!

Not sure whether Kearnsey is great or terrible. Guess it depends if you want unbiased and objective punditry. He's pretty unashamedly bias, and never claims to be objective.

Even in the eyes of Queenslanders. I enjoyed watching him play and was bummed when he snapped his Achilles
Don't mind his banter either - just not the one eyed commentating. But I guess he's a tah so what else can we expect :)

Actually I really dislike his commentary. He has improved a bit over the (many) years, when he started he was often invited to say something about the machinations of the scrum contest, and he always refused to say anything.

He is a dill. A good footballer in his time, but an A-grade dill as a commentator.

In the absence of a specific match thread, I can report that the ladies are being towelled up by the kiwis.

31-3 after 32 mins and we've just got a yellow card. Black Ferns high speed and high skill in comarison to our girls.

^^ If you want serious intellectual debate on the issues of the day, don't go to the local Comedy Club.

Kearns and Marto are the comic relief part of each match day team. Kearns occasionally lets his guard down and in those rare moments of lucidity, he is actually capable of some fairly good analysis. The pity is he spends most of his time being the class clown.

Well that's a bit of bullshit then. Hahaha. All I can remember is a gold medal :)

But what appeals to the posters on this site would likely bore the masses senseless.
He's being paid to be the class clown and does a pretty good job of it.
Remember commentary is for the greater public not just for the rugby purist.

Getting sick of all the talk about the record for consecutive victories.

The World Record is held by Cyprus. It is 24 and has stood since 2014 when Andorra finally ended the run of consecutive victories whic started in 2008.

http://stats.espnscrum.com/scrum/rugby/records/team/most_consecutive_wins.html?id=1;type=class

World Records are World Records, and any World Record with conditions such as the Record for Tier 1 Nations is not a World Record. It is like trying to argue that a Commonwealth Games Rugby 7's medal is an Olympic Games Rugby 7's Medal.
