Sounds more like a domestic comp than a international one. 4 Nations would have done the job, Quad Nations would have been something different.

What a stupid name. I'd rather they just sell the naming rights than to call it "the rugby championship".

I suppose they can still recover. "the investec rugby championship" doesn't sound too bad.

At least with the tri-nations you could say "did you watch the tri nations on the weekend?" to your mates. Who is going to say "did you watch the rugby championship on the weekend?" to their mates? I'd reply "which one?".

Who came up with the Southern Hemisphere International Tests? I love it.

I can see the headlines now:
Wallabies fly into AB SHIT storm
Springboks SHIT champions
O'Connor plays 4th SHIT match

The possibilities are endless. :D

Surely the "Castrol Cup" or something would have been better than this. Like the Heiniken Cup, Aviva Premiership, Magners League etc. I don't really care what the name of the tournament is, but it's really shit, vague and generic to the point it makes it hard for rugby pundits to talk about the competition we're having every year.

"And here come the reigning Rugby Championship Champions to take on the Rugby World Cup Champions".

inb4 Rugbyfuture explodes at the utter mind-boggling shittiness of their logo.

Loving Pichot's shoes, that's awesome

Castrol to be the Aus sponsor, therefore 'Castrol Rugby Championship'. Sydney to host the opening Bledisloe, so Brisbane to host the final.

Can someone explain to me what Castrol gets out of this? I know as rugby supporters we dont care we just take their filthy lucre but long term there needs to be something in it for the sponsor.
Presumably they dont pay as much as Bundaberg did. I could see Bundy was a perfect fit even though I can't stand the stuff myself.
When was the last time you asked for a petroleum product by name or at all?

advertising? and good advertising at that, it will be called the "castrol rugby championship" even when the news reporter introduces a clip, its a pretty decent deal.
