Nah... Mumm has generally played his best rugby at lock, but has struggled at test level...

While Sharpe does weaken our scrum, at the moment he's our best lock... I just think that Deans/Noriega just need to work on him and partner him with someone like Horwill...

And while I'd love to see Elsom play no. 8 for the Brumbies to allow Chapman to start at blindisde, we'll need him at flanker with Palu at no. 8 for the Wallabies...

You'd think. But Mumm has underwhelmed at 6 repeatedly.

If we want an 8 who's a great lineout option and strong ball-carrier Sharpe is our man. Any reason he couldn't do the job? He has to be at least as mobile as Palu.

I have been a huge critic for years of sharpie, because he pops up too bloody often at 1st receiver and does not make the adv line...But I will admit he has been better this season... I can't help but think we missed the boat in terms of blooding a new second rower a year ago...Was impressed with that young pom lock and can't help but think he will be a damn decent lock by next years world cup...If we can get a team with 6 and 8 also as jumpers and a hooker that can throw the ball straight my nanna could call the lineouts. Assuming his work rate is up to scratch Palu should be able to jump at least as fourth option?? If not put the rock at 8 and get either higgers playing in his super rugby form or any other young fella from the 4 provences who is in good form at 6. If horwill dont come up to scratch put a young fella there instead of sharpe or vicker... Give them next years tri-nations and see what level they go too, being a bit harse on chis, mumm, mccal, brown etc but with the exception of Mccal I think we know what we will get out of them come RWC

Fat cat's side of the scrum hasn't exactly covered itself with glory though. Not sure how it's held up with Slipper replacing FC I'll admit.

That's because every TH prop has bored in on our puny hooker, not the shove

The tight head side will always be the position most under pressure, the tight head prop has a hooker and a prop pushing on him whereas the loose head only has one prop to oust against... The loose head is the player who wins tighhead scrums, that's why sharpe is a loose head lock, because he is crap at scrum time..

Thanks for the lesson on TH vs LH, but as the video points out above it hasn't been his side of the scrum going backwards.

Maybe he should have done some of Chis' pushing as well?

Well, generally Chis has been a good scrummaging lock... and Sharpe has generally been a TH lock so it seems as though his inadequate scrummaging has been recognised by the coaches and he's been shifted to the LH side...

But obviously there were a lot of things going wrong with the Wallaby scrum against Wales...

Are you on drugs JJJ? Sharpe has to be one of the most overrated ball carriers around. He is SOFT - plain and simple. Watch him closely in a game and watch how many times he turns the ball over in contact. If he doesn't turn it over he turns good ball into bad by slowing everything down. When he's not getting in the way standing at first receiver he seagulls out on the wing, living off the one try scoring pass he gave to AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) a couple of years ago against the ABs.

I have lost count of how many times i have watched him hit it up (often unnecessarily as he is standing at 1st reciever ffs!) with the Aussies on the attack building pressure in the 22 and good old Sharpie turns it over. His first touch against the Welsh - a penalty for holding on after taking it up. His performance against the English at RWC 07 - he actually looked scared

As an englishman i would love to see him picked at 8 - but it will never happen. He is too soft, too slow, and cant tackle!

I was a big critic of Sharpie for a long time, but in the last couple of seasons he's been very good both at the Force and for the Wobs. I'd love to see the stats, but I reckon he'd be near the top of the list in terms of carrying the ball up and defence. He's become Mr Reliable. He's also excellent in the lineout.
