I literally threw up when I read that rugby league, a sport with some different rules to ours, is trying to think of ways to expand their game internationally. I also feel violently I'll and offended at the continued use of rugby in its name because, despite being obviously a derivative of rugby, my status as a fan entitles me to take credit for rugby and its legacy.

Sounds like Buderus has just watched There's Something about Mary. 7 minute abs? Brilliant.

I am sorry, but if you are serious about any of this. you need help.
It appears to me that those who are loudest with the Mungo bashing are those who typically ate lamingtons at 1/2 time when playing for the 14G's. Some of us are way too precious.
Get a grip, and see a Dr about your digestion there is something wrong with you.

I Suspect he was actually being sarcastic based on the language used, but as for those who are mungo bashing, They try and get us, and have tried to dissolve the game we love for 100 years, and think they have a right to, so we have the right to atleast winge, moan and complain.

Yeah, I see a lot of Rugby League fans bash our sport. But let them bash, we all have opinions sadly there's is wrong but they are entitled to there opinion. I am concerned with the snobbishness exhibited by members of this forum, although I haven't agreed with every on and off field decision the NRL has taken on player discipline, League is still a sport which means so much to so many people. Unfortunately for us, League is popular here, and probably always will be. What Rugby needs to do is instead of participating in League bashing is embrace the competition in Australia and use it to up the game over here, I know I can think of dozens of things. And let's face it, this game is going nowhere. I just think more respect needs to be shown to League.

Respect is a two way street as far as I am concerned. League clearly has none for our game then why should we have any for it. Frankly, what League as a sport gets up to doesn't bother me the slightest bit. I grew up watching it and long ago become bored with it. What really rubs me up the wrong way is its constant bashing of our game via media outlets and their belief that they have some sort of undeniable right to piggyback of Rugby on the international stage. If they truly want a respectable international game then they should invest their own time and money as Rugby has to build it.

As for your second last sentence. While it a topic of discussion for another thread, I agree wholeheartedly. In fact I have a bit of a theory that links back to the article. With the growth of 7s internationally and its ratification as a Olympic sport could the writer (assuming its not Buderus himself) have written this as a counter to last weeks ASC funding article where Rugby in Australia was referred to the better investment opportunity using existing infrastructure .i.e. 7s to grow a participation base.

As with virtually all other league expansion stories, this cannot, and will not happen. For starters, there is no credible, properly funded, international league body. The only financially strong league organisation in the whole wide world is the NRL, and the local franchises do not want anything like this to happen. So it won't. End of.

Where is the snobbery? League has an incorrigible culture from top to bottom and its daft to think otherwise.
