not sure how deliberate it was since his back was turned to the advancing Mitchell, unless he has eyes in the back of his head? It just seemed very innocuous and as you say tragic.

Nah it was deliberate, he shifted off his line into Mitchell's to try and block him.

He won't get suspended for it, but I hope he is feeling mighty guilty about it this morning. If not he needs a smack in the chops.

We need to see the replay - Fox only showed it once, very briefly. That view looked like Higgers was looking over his shoulder, and backed into Mitchell's path. As I have stated earlier, I attribute no malice in this, but it did look a deliberate block, and the outcome was just horrible luck.

Just watched a replay in slow mo - Higgers did indeed look and change direction to block Mitchell.

I was sitting about 5 metres from where it occurred and that sums it up.

Higgers was swerving left and right to block Mitchells path but there was no malice or intent on Higgers behalf to cause the injury. It was just horrible luck and it could have happened to anyone.

Higgers has too be the most hated Aussie player now. It was a terrible block. He ran a good 5 meters over to the wing and looked and swerved. Saying that it was a freak accident. But if higgers didnt go so far out of his way too do that it would not have happened. It's just dirty play.

Fuck you Scotty!!!!

Go the force!!!!

Seriously, Shiggins. Don't. There is enough fuel on the fire.

He didn't get penalized for it, even after Walsh saw a reply. It is never a suspendible offense. If Higgers gets 1 second, Cross should get 12 months.

Only reason it is even being discussed is because of an injury, you can't make decisions based on that.

Terrible shame for Drew and Aus. He has been the form outside back in Aus this season, we will miss him.

As for Higgers, he was one of many off the ball incidences in the game (Beale was checked as well in a try scoring opportunity). There was plenty of checking going on from both sides, the assistant refs should be sent to the optometrist

It's hard too say we need to a new winger but let's get too it.
Agree with JOC (James O'Connor) and digby and also
Cummins could be in for a show this year. Playing well and offers a reserve for both wing and center

Go the force!!!!

Wing is one position we do have depth. We've still got Davies, Digby, Shepherd, JOC (James O'Connor), Turner, Hynes & even Morahan who could cover the wing.

I agree that it was a deliberate block, Higginbum cut across to stop/slow Schmoo down. It happens all the time. The injury is a great shame, for Schmoo and the Wallabies and Tahs but I really don't think there was any intention to injure and not a chance he could get any suspension.

drew is one of the few players the wallabies have who had a world 15 number on his back, i highly doubt higgers's intended block was ment to cause injury. bad luck it was... still drews outa the world cup and nothing short of a man of the match performance in the wc final will excuse/make up for it... fkn idiot

Christ. Are things so bad that we even need to mention Cummins in a Wobs context?

So that leaves us with O'Connor, Turner, Ioane, Davies and Morahan in contention for wing spots. I'm assuming that O'Connor will play inside centre, especially as that's where he's repeatedly expressed he wants to play and that now he's playing there for the Force. I think Ioane and Turner would be a perfect combination. Turner has lightning speed and a solid kicking game, and was one of the best on field during the Hong Kong Bledisloe. Always plays well IMO. Ioane has been amongst the Reds best for the past 3 seasons now and has been unlucky injury- wise. However, I have doubts about his speed off the mark, and if this proves a major issue I can see AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) shifting to the wing and Diggers heading to 13.

Possible backline:

9. Genia
10. Cooper
11. Ashley- Cooper
12. O'Connor
13. Ioane
14. Turner
15. Beale
----------------------
20. Burgess
21. Giteau
22. Morahan

Assuming Mitchell doesn't make it back in time, the most likely inside centre is Barnes (if fit) then Giteau. JOC (James O'Connor) will be on the wing.

oconner on the wing allows us to have all our best players on the park
ioane on the other wing and beale at fullback, id suggest davies, morohan, cummins, vuna, tah man then turner could also fill the gap... but the wallabies are a much weaker side without him... you cant just replace a best in the world...

here we go, putting the blame on someone else... Blocking through out the whole game from both sides... Mitchell stood on higgers foot...
New this was going to some up at some stage..... I even mentioned this in my notification notice...but there is a
lot a tahs supporters on this forum...

I would suggest there are a few in front of Turner these days. Morahan and Davies are probably up there. Although I think Davies could catch a bit better.
