ANZ Stadium is at Homebush.
No, it's really not. The Stadium is in Homebush Bay (the suburb, not the bay itself). Homebush is a different place, two suburbs away.
That makes no difference to the Eeyore chorus. We're shit. We used to be good, but now we're shit. Nothing is right. The coach is shit. The management is shit. The players are shit. Everything is shit.
Rinse and repeat.
Whatever happened to pride in the achievements of our sportsmen? It has been overtaken by a vast, petulant sulk.
I think we need a combination of the two, Groucho. We can be proud of our achievements, but we should always be expecting our players to go onwards and upwards.
From what's been provided this has nothing to do with anything to related to the Wallabies. It's our admin that seems to be deficient. I'd say I'm quite proud of the team just not with how our leadership conducts its business. Vidiot mentions how only the enthusiasts noticing is a tragedy, I disagree, thank god for small mercies.
Very good, Bruce. I've discovered you're right. Homebush Bay (formerly postcode 2144) ceased to be a suburb in 2009, and Sydney Olympic Park was made a suburb at that time. I stopped working there in 2008 so I'm out of touch with those changes. I conceded the point to you, and apologise to Richo for giving him the wrong information. No, Zeno, it's really not. The ANZ Stadium is in the suburb of Sydney Olympic Park, postcode 2127. Homebush Bay is not a suburb. It doesn't have a postcode.
But that's an unfounded assertion; you should know better. None of us is in a position to make a ruling on "everyday usage" or what "the vast majority" of people understand. In everyday usage the ANZ Stadium is at Homebush, that is, the vast majority of people would understand what was meant by someone giving that as its location.

Was that a generalisation, or another unfounded assertion? But that's an unfounded assertion; you should know better. None of us is in a position to make a ruling on "everyday usage" or what "the vast majority" of people understand.
Here's my generalisation: having worked in Homebush Bay, off and on, over quite a few years, I've always found city and eastern suburbs to have a pretty shaky knowledge of that part of town (hell, anywhere west of Leichhardt confuses them). The use of the name "Homebush" for the entire Olympic precinct indicates that they never knew the difference between Homebush, Homebush West and Homebush Bay in the first place; they don't care, and further, wouldn't have any need to know. Why, they only ever go there for things like the Easter Show and Eagles concerts at Acer Arena.
In rugby circles, of course, it's regarded as quite an imposition to be asked to travel there for the Bledisloe Test match. Growden actually called it "the boondocks" last year.
So whether or not such people understand each other when they say "Homebush", they're still ignorantly using the wrong name — and in this context it's a symptom of the mindset that keeps rugby quartered from general view in Sydney.
I blame twitter! And Greg growden
That wasn't aimed at you, WorkingClassRugger. It's a general theme that exercises my indignation from time to time.
Blaming Greg Growden is a generally safe strategy.
But you're right about the press. With a very few exceptions, they're either cheerleaders or prophets of doom, and rarely ever anything between those extremes.

4. Hate going to the easter show at Homebush as it sucks
5. Would never go to an Eagles concert at Acer!!! Or anywhere else.
6. Hate going to Tests there because it is a soulless, cavernous husk of a stadium unless it has 80 000 people in it, and only the Bledisloe gets that many...sometimes.
6. Agree. Tahs games should all be at SFS.
