Giteau was only saying what everyone else was saying. didnt the saffas get a ref suspended by complaining publicly?

Everyone else?

This is becoming a crime spree! Is this the same Everyone Else who was also involved in payments over the salary cap. Bring in the police. ;)

A couple of points from my point of view.

1. I initially thought it was a dead set try. But after watching gazillions of replays I have changed my mint and believe Walsh got it right.

2. Hoiles was never held in the tackle.

3. Hoiles should have kept his stupid mouth shut and took it on the chin.

4. It was no where near a certain try if it was let go.

5. I thought there was at least 4 forward passes let go.

6. I just said dead set in a sentence! Can you catch Mungo?

What frustrates me is that they couldn't go to the video ref for this but constantly go to the video ref for the blatantly obvious. The speed in which Walsh made his call tells me he was reffing with a grudge and not being impartial. Hoiles had every right to approach the ref under these circumstances and I find it hard to believe his doing so was an attempt at a stalling tactic.

Why did he 'have every right'?

Walsh had clearly explained why he had not awarded the try, you can't go back and change it can you? Doing it on the run is not the go and only agitates every referee further.

He's the captain. They have the right to speak with refs.

I don't know if he has the "right" to speak to the ref. He is the conduit to the ref, but it doesn't mean the ref needs to bend to his beck and call.

And at the same time when you tell the ref "that was a rubbish call" I think you lose some of that right anyway.

It wasn't the right thing to say but Walsh spoke to Hoiles poorly as well. Walsh punished Hoiles for that in any event.

The captains have every right to discuss rulings with refs, Spookie, but they don't have the right to chose the time. Nor should they describe a ref's decision as "rubbish". If a ref feels a captain is manipulating him and dictating the pace and timing of a game he should ignore him, especially if he feels that captain is being rude to him. As Walsh felt Hoiles was on Saturday.

It's a shame Walsh has been punted from Saturday's match, it'd be curious to see if Hoiles has learnt anything from his performance last week.

A decision this big he should have. Spook is right in saying that Hoiles was punished for his decent. Walsh was unproffessional all throughot this game. To me these incidents highlighted how much the Brumbies miss Smirh and Morty. One of these two would of been straight into Hoiles ear telling him to shut the fuck up and calm down.

In no way am I condoning how Hoiles spoke to Walsh.

Excatly, the captain has to work with the referee. I actually thought this would go the other way, with Walsh being kept on but Hoiles being dropped as captain.

I got marched ten for saying "What for?" to a ref once ::)

SOS To'omua, its a shame he got injured as he could have cemented his spot.

Agree with all of those Sully.

And agree also with Cutter. Walsh performance > Giteau performance.

Giteau needs to take a shut the fuck up pill while he re-learns how to play rugby. Otherwise he can piss off to France for all I care.

It seems I also agree with Naza.

Jesus you guys are harsh on Giteau (as a player).

What he said to the media is bullshit though. The "shoudn't bother turning up" comment is completely out of line and it's correct for him to be hauled over the coals for this.

Looks like you can't teach an old dog new tricks is true for Walsh. His failing have always been the same and it looks like they are still there. He should be a rock against any manipulating/moaning captain, not let his views get in the way.

Giteau hasn't been turning up all season, and now he blames Walsh?

I didn't get to see the game live so only watched highlights on Fox sports news. I thought it was a try at first. After watching a replay of the game Walsh was out to penalize players crawling on the ground. In that context I understand why the try was disallowed. Teams have to react to the ref. Walsh obviously had be directed to come down hard on players crawling and the Brumbies didn't react.

If the Brumbies need a 10 for the weekend I will put up my hand. I am sure I could set up a bonus point win..........................................for the Reds :)

Re: Matt Giteau facing suspension

People seem to have forgotten the no-try call came from Nathan Pearce. Granted it was Walsh that ruled but the call came from Pearce. A ref has to trust his assistants and Steve did just that.

I hope that Git gets put in his place on Saturday night - his arse - and that the Brumbies end up on the wrong side of both a massive penalty count and scoreline.

Miserable whinging gits (and yes, I am aware that perhaps it takes one to recognise one)
