4s down at the break, and came home strong to finish 22 – 15, could of been by a few more as we were camped on their line for the final 5
3s great game of rugby. Forwards stuck solid the whole game, set piece, and phases flowed and this provided the back space to control the ball and score tries. This was 2nd v 3rd on the table and we took it 40 – 5. Max created plenty from the back of the rucks and mauls, great seeing Kayse back as he adds so much with ball in hand, Josh has taken his game to another level this year – he’s reading the game, having a go, and the ball is not dying when he takes it in and this is creating plenty of options. But the defence was awesome, for the first 20 of the second half we were camped in our 22 and then took the score to 26 zip with try that went 99 meters. Only points conceded were from a rolling maul and possibly donation points that we shouldn’t have given. D won that game.
2s forward pack was juggled from previous weeks with Manu, Sig, Gower all on the side line in ones. High scoring affair with 90 points being scored (9 tries by Marlins) and the game was always in control, this team can win the comp but can’t leak tries like that when we reach the finals. The tight 5 laid a very good foundation and rolled forward, the loosies did their job. Lucas was a class above and the backs enjoyed his ball, first year out of colts Squires is handling everything that comes his way, and can’t believe I’m giving another winger a wrap – Yarrington had an awesome game yesterday. Tight 5 laid the foundations.
1s Great seeing Northam spending some time off his wing and hitting the holes, 4 tries, and great tries as well. G had another storming game leading from the front, great go forward and often required a number of players to stop his go forward, the go forward and ball retention was again good to see. Daruda playing a little wider, did this have an impact on Zip going over for 4? Great seeing Treweek joining the line again like he was in the earlier rounds. Forwards allowed the halves to control the game.
