Missed 4's - but Manly got up.
3s went right to full time, and we were playing catch up the whole game. a couple of injuries in the backs saw new combinations needing to gel. goal kicking saw us come home on top.
2s fantastic display - dominant forward back, and backs running straight hitting the gaps, video of of that game needs to be sent to Cheika. Yes it is an incredibly strong backline (Swany, Vaevae, Hingano, Hooper, BJ), but they had loosies creating the go forward and then "earnt" the right to go wide running straight. Lost count how manly times Mitch Daniel & Rhys Dombkins held the ball carrier up to create the turn over.
1s the first 20 was a huge test in defense, the Wests huge front row hitting the line but sent backwards. Spending some time in our half defending gradually wore the Pirates down, first visit to the Wests half resulted in points - Northam turned on the gas after the ball came through the back line.
More D another visit and another try, with the 3rd coming on the stroke of half time. Kept the pirates scoreless until the last 15 and they went over for 3 try's - no donations next week.
Petersen, Bergelin, Sig lead the way up front, and Sef was again strong.
Last 40 against Uni - Uni 0
First 40 against Wests - West 0
Need a repeat of that 80 minutes next week in defense.

Great summary Dave. Poor 4ths was anyone there (I missed it as well). Sounds like they played some good footy though.
3's were very brave and played hard to stay in the game. The Wests forwards were very dominant and had the Manly pack in trouble in all aspects except ticker ( which does not mean they had none just Manly had a little more). Their discipline let them down. Manly only took the lead in the final minutes after a good conversion of a try from a wide angle. The big centre Manly bought on did his job and got two tries for them. Very scrappy if not a bit lucky win.
2's - wow. 52-3 at halftime after some great rugby. Forwards going forward, controlling the breakdown and giving backs time and space to work with. Nearly perfect-nearly. The back line Manly had today would challenge most 1st grade back lines. I don't think you can pick anyone out for special mention they all did their job and did it well. However, in saying that, I feel mention can be made of BJ Hartman, who got 3 tries and had a hand in a few more. He gives the others a lot of confidence when he is out there.
First grade had a solid win over a committed and big West Harbor side. Their defence was very strong (a trait all Manly sides have) and they have the ability to grasp any scoring occasion that can come up, as the play in the first half showed. 3 opportunities to score and 3 tries and a 19-0 half time score. It was good to see them keep it going after half time until some tiredness let Wests score their tries. Congrats to Mr Treweek who handled the pressure of playing against his former club very well.
Can't wait for next week v Rats. A huge day followed by a huge night I hope.

In the posts above we have given praise to the teams and the players. I feel the Manly coaches and Phil Blake especially should also be acknowledged for their efforts. To have so much strength in your club is sometimes not easy to manage and to have all coaches on board with the style of play Manly are showing at the moment certainly points to a side that has it together on the field and off it as well.

Haven't been sure where to start;
Allambie Jet's U7 had to visit Pittwater and played like champions so the day started well, - Manly Juniors learning the ropes early.
3rd's Rats played well so i cant remember, plus it was a long time ago.
2nd grade - were flat compared to recent weeks, where they were white hot. The Rats simply slowed the game down and we could get the flow going - so the win was ground out comprehensively by 40 points and only conceding one try which was good to see.
1st grade colts - starting to come together now. Our scrum took on a huge Rats scrum and came out on top. Our loosies were great consistently crossing the add line in the ruck and the 9 / 10 channel, this created space for the players out wide.
A good wait for the next game and there was a real buzz at the ground.
Can't remember much of it and every one seems to know - Ed got through a mountain of work - he had his hands on the ball as much as Matty Lucas, always creating go forward and his phases were quick.
Sigg and Porecki also deserve special mention - both players playing 3 different positions through the game.
5 second half tries, 3 Of which followed only a couple of phases after 3 x damaging Maile runs.
Good rest with a Sunday game next week - how are the injuries.

I watched the replay of the Marlins and Rats game. What struck me most was the almost universal size difference in favour of the Marlins. Everywhere you looked, the Marlin player was significantly bigger than his opponent.
I thought the Rats did bloody well, considering.
Dave Porecki continues to impress me every time I see him, but I only see his work in the open in the tv coverage. What is his real work like?

Good write up about converted leaguie Dane Chisolm in the Daily.
Had an excellent pre season seven campaign.
Very sharp on his feet, good hands, finished some great plays - have ago at 2nd for and against.
Has tried the gruber on the 6th tackle a little, taking the tackle and relying on support may have converted into tries - but this will come with game time.
