lote and his agent tried to find an english club for him to stay at, they tried to find a french club, they tried and tried to find a big money contract, they got nothing but a press release from the tigers nicely worded. fan favourate but had learnt nothing from being axed from australia was what was going around fox HQ

You are confuddling two issues.

1. Whether he was considered of value at Leicester
2. Where has was trying to go from there considering the fact that he had a short contract.

Two things, one has absolutely nothing to do with the other.

When you have some of the opinions you do.. e.g. (off the top of my head) you would prefer to see Sheehan playing for the Wallabies in front of Genia there may be some gentle mocking. Nothing personal, mind.

By the way, you haven't been sneaking TC some fantasy team points over at Fox have you??

yep, thats right, i wanted sheehan to start or be ont he bench in the tri nations last year. i was proven wrong by genia holding up that trophy at the end of it......oh thats right, didnt happen. if you had an idea, i wouldnt trash it though, difference between me and you.

nah didnt register for fantasy this year, but tommy must be worth some points, got over the try line a few times. been ont he winning side alot

Take it easy fellas!!!

his value at leicester is the issue blue, he wanted to stay they opened contract talks and the tigers said they didnt want him, they didnt want him so much they sent him on his way early.
if he was such a professional and so loved do you not think that another two or three games would mean something? the fans love him so were going to wave goodbye to him early as a present to everyone.
the other issue of no one in english or french rugby entering the race is relevent cos if he had been so loved at the tigers and was worth anything someone would have signed him.
they didnt, he took a paycut to come home and play mungo, thats my point, ive heard it from a few different places, you read a fan forum.
there are a higher percentage of australians in england than italy, google it Blue, then google "clue", then get back to me.

Yes maybe if he wanted less money Leicester would have wanted him. We will never know. They have a budget you know. Of course his agent was goign to try and cash in, but they did not bitw.

It does not mean the club did not value what he had done. Not enough money offered? Sure, obviously not.

I really don't know what else to say.

This is the Rugby Discussion Forum. Shouldn't any talk about Tuqiri be in 'Everything Else'?

No, completely relevant. Lote played rugby for 7 years or so, and so far the discussion has been rugby related. Plus nobody reads that other forum.

Bump.

Another 2 tries for Lote tonight. That's 4 tries in 3 games. Showed some very very good finishing skills tonight and is really proving his doubters wrong. Good on him!

Sorry if the subject is starting to sway a bit from Rugby, feel free to move the thread mods.

well, as we know according to the mungoes on nine and in the daily terror, its a lot harder coming off from a break in rugby to go into mungoball....

By their definitions he should struggle for a while through fitness and adapting to the "tougher" game he now has to play.

He's carving up, he'll be back playing origin & test footy in a couple of months, and as someone said earlier he seems very quick.

Lote looked very quick for Leicester. Made a searing outside break against a quick player - I've not seen him that quick for a long time. Why the fuck didn't he train hard enough for the Wallabies then? He clearly didn't care enough.

He was always quick enough, Spook, the Tahs trainers reckon he was always 1 or 2 in the squad over 40m, I seem to recall.
The reasons he tailed off in rugby are many - bulked up a bit too much, endured years of inept backline play at the Tahs where his main function seemed to become a battering ram, didn't fare much better at the Wallabies in latter years. I think he lost the instinct in attack he brought with him when he came to rugby. He developed bad habits with his running - too sideways, off flat foot starts rather than hitting the ball at pace, a common trait in Aus teams in recent years. As I said, I think the speed was always there - I doubt it was lost then suddenly found again.
Feedback from team-mates seems to be that he was a good team man, and trained and prepared well. There has not been a rush of ex-teammates bagging him since he went.
I appreciate you dislike him, but to say he didn't train or care is a bit much.

Had the attack trained out of him I reckon. Can't have been any other way in the Jones era. Too many plays, not enough playing.

To put it simply, Nick, yes.

I prefer the answer that league and rugby are 2 different games. He's very good at one, and only quite good at the other.

See? You medicos always complicate stuff. :) When the MRI pointed out that I had a split tendon in my ankle, it took the silly bugger doing the report about 16 words to say which tendon :)

And medicos by the sentence.

Think this grammarist hadn't noticed your writing style and speculated on your occupation? :)
