LOCKED: Time to Sack Deans?

Is it time to sack Deans?

I think we need to at least clean out the assistants and replace with Foley for the Pigs and Mooney for the backs.

Nucifora to have no say in selections.

Deans to be told to start selecting on merit, that is on performance, form and potential.

If Deans refuses these changes say good bye to him and hello Link. Install him for the end of year tests and we will have some vague chance at the RWC and next years 3N.

I think we can all agree that without a game played we know the Wallabies chances this year are next to nil with the team and squad that Deans keeps selecting.

Jones and Connolly (and even Dwyer after the 1995 RWC) got sacked for better performances than Deans' teams have shown.

Thoughts?

Regardless of what happens in 2010, I think you need to accept the fact Robbie will be coaching the wob's until the 2011 RWC.

stupid idea, no!

"Jones and Connolly (and even Dwyer after the 1995 RWC) got sacked for better performances than Deans' teams have shown."

yes but under it was a very different situation. both those coaches had established players, at their peak, in their roster. Part of deans job, because the above two where so shit house, was to build depth and find new talent.

in deans time we've seen some fantastic talent rise. Genia, Cooper, O'Connor, etc. Australian rugby is better with him at the top.

Pick the name of our forum members from a hat and you'd do better for Wallaby coach.

Deans has stolen Matt Williams' 4 year plan. He's won people over with blooding young kids is all. Not good enough. This team deadset tours with their teddy bears. We need to harden the fuck up !

people are ignorant of the fact that deans has taken an interest in the whole australian game rather than the the final, selected national team, done well on both fronts. just havent improved to the point where we can beat everyone.....yet

Every other coach would do so as well. His primary job is selecting a Wallabies team that will do successful in its Tri-Nations campaign is it not? He's had two of them so far and he's been shit house in one of them. The other was just a legacy from when Connolly was coach. Now he did a great job.

RF and other Deans supporters- When we lose this Tri-Nations series, rest assured we are going to lose. Who are you going to blame it on? Matt Giteau? Dean Mumm? Salesi Ma'aufu? Drew Mitchell? The news just in fellas is that Deans just picked these guys after having several chances, and haven't proven themselves. Deans talks about blooding new people yet why hasn't Fainga'a been blooded? Why hasn't Lachlan Turner been shown his chance? It strikes me as odd to say the least.

Can't wait to lose this next series! Now let's head into next year with the same old anticipation and the same old team. Oh and its a RWC year too.

Yeah, I'll go with you Gnostic. If I was in charge, I would judge Deans on this 3N. If we flop - I would sack him.

Problems:

1. We lose all the time
2. I don't understand his selection policy
3. I don't understand the game plan
4. He talks drivel

I would be interesting to see the team selected for the first 3N games for the last say 10 years, and compare their quality.

Yep, none of the proposed players are any better than the incumbents, we don't have a THP, an 8 or a backline that can be settled on (how many times have been able to run out the same centres over the last few years?).

Deans has backed certain players which is his prerogative.

But to assume that the other options thrown around are really a marked upgrades is fanciful.

I'd blame the lack of progressive planning from the aru. Then the lack of a national comp, no Australia A, etc

How do we know? That is the point. Not many that haven't been forced selections have been tried yet out of form players keep their spots. By the same logic Kearns and Eales and others would not have got a start, indeed now days I doubt they would get on Deans bench if he had to pick them from the same places as Dwyer picked them.
