Thankyou Lions.
With a four way shootout for 6th spot it's going to be a great few weeks when things get back underway.

Bb - great to see the Lions got this good a win, and f-ing good on 'em. They were by no means a poor side at Suncorp. Now add that to your first ever RSA team win at Suncorp, and this season's looking pretty good for you, isn't it? ;)

That performance from the Lions is one that us Lions supporters have been waiting for all season - particularly after the team's performance in the Currie Cup last year! They have shown patches of good rugby all season, but unfortunately these have been largely outweighed by sub-standard, error-ridden performances.

They seemed to be really up for this game mentally and they managed to minimise the lapses in concentration that have been their downfall all year! The forward pack really stood up to the much fancied Sharks pack. The lineouts, which have been weak all year, were solid. The scrum, while certainly not dominant, managed to achieve close to parity with their Springbok dominated opponents.

As for the Sharks, they were very flat in this game. They seemed to turn up thinking the bonus point win was inevitable. IMO the two main reasons for their poor performance were; 1 - they put everything mentally and physically into their big win over the Stormers last week, and 2 - a number of their players had half of their minds on Springbok selection and the upcoming series against England.

Unfortunately for the Lions it is too little, too late. They are unlikely to take too many points from their remaining games away to the Stormers and Bulls (although the games certainly won't be walk-overs), but they will certainly be targeting another win when they host the Rebels at Ellis Park.

Haha yes, two massive positives to take from this season! I was expecting a 40-50 point thrashing when I turned up to watch the Lions at Suncorp a few weeks ago and I was pleasantly surprised with the outcome! Long may these good performances from South African teams at Suncorp continue! ;)

So typical Sharks. Hot and cold. Ill discipline.

Mind you they got farked by the TMO who went outside of protocol.

Still they played like a bunch of dickheads. The du Plessis brothers were yanked off to prevent an even bigger avalanche of penalties. Not the sharpest tools in the shed those two. Doctor or no doctor Jannie really is not the smartest rugby player. Either that or it's a piece of pie to deliver babies.

Meyer is going to put a massive premium on discipline. He will have no qualms yanking Bismarck with Strauss sitting on the bench.

I wasn't surprised at all by this result. The Sharks always manage to pull a reverse upset out the bag at least once a season, often more. It's very frustrating from a supporters view. Going into this game I had an expectation that it could be a loss, after a massive performance the previous week. A champion team should not be getting results like this (no disrespect to the Lions, but fact is they are bottom log dwellers), and therefore the Sharks are not a champion team and don't deserve a play-off spot.

Bugger the bloody Lions. Stuffed up my footytips big time.

Was doing really well in the new "Streak" tipping till now.

Good game but not happy about what it has done to my tips:rolleyes:.

I dont think your tipping will be screwed up by this loss. Only 2% tipped the Lions for a win. I was dumb enough to tip the Tahs. That was a massive mistake.

They have a new class of tipping called the streak, where you tip only those teams you think are certain winners. You do not have to select for games you are not confident of the winner.

I had an awesome run of winners selected in the Streak. Even picked the Stormers over the Bulls, and 'Canes over the Tah's. The Lions were unfavoured by everyone. So I am hoping that all the other Tipsters "streaks" came to a reset as well as me.
