There is going to be 3 tests, 6 provincial matches and the Honker Baabaas game.

the Tests are:

Saturday 22 June 2013, Suncorp Stadium, Brisbane
Saturday 29 June 2013, Etihad Stadium, Melbourne
Saturday 6 July 2013, ANZ Stadium, Sydney

The 6 provincial would be the 5 Super provinces + AusA (or Barbarians if they keep calling it that)

So there would be 5 games of the full strength side - the Hongkers Baabaas game, a warm up, and three tests. The remaining 5 games - 3 mid-week games for the 3 tests, a warm up and another around the Baabaas game would be the dirt trackers?

I am going my on memory from previous tours. I believe that last time they toured Aus, the full strength warm up was vs a full strength Reds (who were no slouch back then), and the Lions gave the Reds a right belting - didn't they put on about 60? The Tahs (including that infamous McCrae moment) and Brumbies (won by the Lions with a penalty goal on full time?) games were mid-weekers.

Ash, I am sure the Tahs game was played on a saturday night and assume it was the "A" team, it may well have been a composite team but I do remember some, if not all the stars played that night.
geez those Lions supporters were loud, I still remember all the booing when the tahs ran on the field. it was as if they were the away team.
We have a lot to learn about how to support a team from the poms.

You are quite right - they were the last lead up game, the Reds were the first. Was I thinking of the other NSW mid-week game against some scratch team, or of the Australia A game? Damn my flakey memory, not a good day for it! The Tahs went a little better than the Reds, if I remember rightly, but still got comprehensively beaten.

Would love to see the results and team sheets from those games from 2001!

Yeah I see from your link 41 - 31, I am sure that the tahs were in it right up to the end & the Lions scored a try with not long to go.Was a great night of footie as i recall.
very hard to beat a lions tour, no doubt the frequency or lack of makes it all the better.

The silly B&I Lions page is wrong, it was 41 - 21, and 24 - 5 at half time.

I think the Tahs got back into mid-way through the second half, but then got shut out.

Notable for the massive fight with McRae wailing on a helpless O'Gara on the ground.

I'm sure that damn Lions website has heaps more stuff on the past tours on it, but it's damn impossible to find stuff on.

Would've been a fantastic game to be at, especially the insane atmosphere and Duncan McRae going crazy.

Because I am currently obsessed with my memory of the 2001 Lions tour, I am dumping all this stuff here.

Lions tours are as good, if not better than world cups. I remember being happier after the wallabies beat the lions in 2001 than when they won the world cup. There's more off field niggle, you're guaranteed 3 top class test matches and to win it just seems every bit as satisfying. Add to that all the fans that come over and the atmosphere at the games.

Mate it was like the lions supporters outnumbered us 5 to 1, thanks for finding those links it was great to read them to jog the memory about the game.
Can't wait for the replay!
