I was stoked until I saw the rest of the Melbourne test deal. No NZ until at least 2017 is a bit of a kick to the nads.

Just an article on Newcastle gaining the Lions match v Combined Country. First the Scots, now this, I'm very happy the Lions are coming here. The result doesnt really matter, it'll be an experience for the combined country team to play a side like the Lions & it will be great to see the Lions & their fans at the stadium.

The Lions tour of 89 played Combined Country in newcastle. I was there and it was played at a small ground (Wanderers home ground) in the heart of Newcastle. It was an awesome afternoon and I remember it well (through a rather drunken haze). Gave it to the Lions all afternoon. Some of these mid week games will be awesome to see and experience if you can't make the tests. As someone else has said I'm already pumped for this tour. Might take in the Newcastle game and then head to melbourne for the week
