Lions in South Africa 2021

Yeah we chose Georgia because they are the best and biggest bullies on the rugby planet. Nope. We were going to incorporate them in our domestic comp in 2020 AND play them internationally along with Scotland.

Let that sink in. SA rugby is doing more for world rugby than people think.

Now it's just going to be a brawl and the fecker that's paid the most will do the most damage ala old school. Nothing wrong with that. We'll take it on the cheek and cry a little bit, of course, without letting you know.

It was really the only game SARU could get.

I well pleased (and not surprised really) that SA have incorporated Georgia in their comp. SA takes a lot of shit from people who don't actually take the time to learn what they do t help grow the game around the world I believe.

Congratulations to Jack Cornelsen who’ll debut for Japan against the Lions at Murray field this weekend.

Absolutely brilliant achievement. Really hope they bring him on early.

Cornelsen and I were at Grammar at the same time and while I never played a match with him (he was really good and I was not) I watched him run out for our 1sts each week and did get to run around with him during lunches and PE. It was clear to see the genetic link between his father and himself (google Greg Cornelsen 1978 if your knowledge is lacking). He is the type of player that never seems rushed and always pops up at the right time and at the right place. He's a dynamic ball runner who keeps his eyes up and his shoulders square to the try line. He can defend from first pillar all the way to wing and is also an effective line out operator.

As a bloke, my memory of Corny was that he is a really shy guy and very softly spoken. This is what impresses me most about this achievement given the years of hard work in a very different environment a long way from friends and family. It's a shame that he was overlooked for QLD honours but Japan has given him an opportunity to grow physically and I'm sure mentally also.

BILs won 28-10, but AWJ is out of the tour with a dislocated shoulder. Conor Murray taking over as captain.

So here's a rule i didn't know. If a kicking tee comes onto the field you have to opt for the kick after you've won a penalty.

I guessing that the same as captain saying we will take the kick, you can't change mind?

Spose so. The Japanese clearly didnt want to take the kick being 3 tries behind but the ref insisted following some kind of miscommunication and what i assume was an eager waterboy.

So many random rules in rugby.

Jamie Joseph has lost a tonne of weight. On the other hand, WFT happened to Bundee Aki the rangy bank teller from South Auckland? Dude looks like one of the Tuilagi brothers now. Packed on 30 kgs of solid muscle.

New hooker Sakate is already 28? FFS isnt he the college kid who just finished his first year of pro rugby after waiting for Horie to wind down?

Lions defended well enough but showed fuckall on attack and seemed satisfied with only scoring 28 versus Japan's mercenary ring-in FrankenXV Pacific Island Poach Programme

Yep it's 3 Bok players. Geez I hope they have caught it quick enough, but you feel this is the beginning of the end of the tour.

Ouch. Feels bigger than that, like this is that second wave of the virus, it’s popping up again everywhere. If not, send the Lions down here for an ANZAC tour!

EDIT: I’ve since read about it and they are playing it down a bit. Seems they were regrouping to commence preparations and they canceled training because 3 players tested positive, but no wider implications.

Anyone else see in the BIL socials of the players right at the pointy end of the plane, no expense spared.

So good seeing lions fans at murrayfield I really fear for the series win no fans in RSA

Watched the game this morning, was good to see a tour game, B&I Lions basically wore them down in end.
