Whilst I agree Reg, isn’t the issue now that funding pathways and engagement programs won’t bear fruit until you and I are too old to remember this RWC? As in, this funding should have been done 20 years ago.

We are in full damage control. The only way to repair the rugby brand is to win some farking games. The guys currently in gold can’t do that.

I’d double down on the league targets actually - make sure signing the right guys we lost previously to NRL.

We need engagement with our fans. A budding star or two wouldn’t be detrimental I don’t think… when has their been a rugby union dummy spit im taking my toys to league?

Wouldn’t mind that #1 at the broncos. Whoever he is

Aggressive recruitment is one of the ways the Wallabies can improve.

Most of the comments on this thread are about players with Rugby backgrounds that would be of immediate benefit to our professional side. In the last decade 5 John Eales medals have been won by League signings.
Only 2 players though and Folau is long gone and Korobiete playing some of his worst currently

To be fair, most of the targets discussed were good young rugby players. But any we chase are going to eat big chunks of money, that's true.

Last two times we made RWC final

2003 - three league converts in the backline

2015 - Folau at fullback and he was arguably the best back in the world at the time. People forget how good he was cause of all the contract shit. Genuinely a game changer on his own.

Folau’s talent was undeniable. It’s still such a shame how it ended up…

Can say without them in 03 we don’t get where we did. 2 specialist Wingers and Rogers who had a Rugby background.

Like an 8 team comp where players could go straight out of high school instead of going to league then us paying stupid overs to get them back
And that competition have name and surname: National Provincial Championship, I don't know which one is the current commercial name.

RA can't afford a national competition so join the nearest and most competitive rugby national competition.

If we're going to target anyone from the NRL at this stage I'd rather it was names like Andrew Every, Tain Drinkwater and Grant Williams. Fill the really serious talent gaps we're dealing with.

Wasn’t Pone just an A grader that got told he’s more suited to Rugby? Can’t imagine his fitness would have been able to go near state cup level. Skelton was the same and is a fine Rugby forward.

We need midfielders. Big, fast, violent runners that understand the simple things like draw n pass which league nail.

Haas chat is fun because he’s a true anomaly.
