I saw on TSF every Tom , dick and harry have their two cents about the Aussies who are bad losers and think being a neutral in this lets spin the coin to the others side and get the boards feeling about the Kiwis.

Learned over the years as what you lot call a Saffer or Yarpies(still hate the name) and being nr 2 when the wheel started turning to our lot , the same bunch calling you now sad losers are pretty quick to do exactly the same when their score change to the wrong side and being on the recieving end from the Bokke.

Myself started way back when Snor took over and we got the first win in NZ with him being coach I dare start a thread about a new era for the mighty Springbok. They all jump on my case and called me a gloater and all those nasty names myself never intended but look at that same Kiwi bunch now.

Anyway usually those calling and generalizing Aussies as bad loser are the baddest losers themself.

Happens all the time Oom. There are those everywhere who complain about a loss, and those who can put it in perspective. The Kiwis could feel pretty sore about being kicked out of RWC2007 on the back of what they see as a forward pass. I'd point out that they had the game within their grasp if they were as good as they thought, and still could have taken it with a dropgoal if they wanted to.

Still, I don't think there is any sports fan who hasn't complained about a loss or looked like a tosser after winning at some point in their life.

When did you become so reasonable?

The real question here is this: is it arrogant or gloating to accuse others of being sore losers?

Look Nick Oom Paarl comes a long long way in sport. Maybe living in Paarl and having one hell of a rivalry between Paarl Gim and Paarl Boys I learned the hard way about being what we call good old sportmanship. Think that make me some kind of a hard man. Here families are split between the two and only one game of rugby called interschools the Boishaaiers (Galpille) make me angry in this year in year out. If they loose those with the biggest mouths run away but they cant hide. At some stage Oom Paarl will get them and piss on them. If they win they tells ya, lose they disappear like a kraai drol.

Paarl I think you'll find there are bad winners and losers everywhere. They are usually louder than the good winners and losers which is why you notice them. I'd give your stress levels a rest by ignoring the morons and focusing on the good guys.

Yep..count me in as a gloating/arrogant winner. I'm not apologetic about it either and here are the reasons why;

- 1991 RWC semi final.
- 1998-2002 period where John Eales and co beat us so regularly I stopped getting pissed off. That happens especially after Eales kicks a last minute conversion..Kefu scores a last minute try and Matt Burke scores more points than we do. What makes it worse is when you live in Aus and your mates continually rib you about it.
- 2003 RWC semi final was gutting..absolutely gutting. Especially when you're sitting in the stands and then have to turn up to work and face your workmates the next day.

So given all that heartache and given the fact we haven't won a RWC since I was 10 years old..yeah..I'm a gloating/arrogant winner ;)

Very good advise but I have this competitive instinct in me since day 1 doing sport (even on the pool table or dart board), those giving me the most mouthfull during or before a match/game motivate me the most in trying to defeat them and getting the most satisfaction beating them. Those telling me they have no change is the biggest demotivator and I actually hate beating them.

What that man said.

Tons more good guys out there than bad ones in my experience.

You've obviously never been to England.

Given the very long period over which you have sucked on the Australian sav, shouldn't you be a Wallaby supporter? :angryfire:

Lived there for 3 years and honestly didn't find them that different.
Although for the purposes of full disclosure, I have to admit I wasn't there for the brief period under Woodward when they actually won more than they lost. ;)

Poms are the worst losers and winners. When they win a game their fans and press never shut up despite still playing crap rugby and when they lose they blame the ref or coaching staff. But I am the first to admit being an arrogant fan to brit colleagues when we win. :)

I would much rather watch the Wallabies go down to the All Blacks than to the Poms. At least its entertaining.

I'm a "smug sense of self-satisfaction" kind of guy rather than a boorish gloater.
