Surely deserves a few weeks off.

I don't think it deserves a week off, but it perhaps should have been penalised during the game, especially because Palu was wrongfully sin binned.

It would not be extreme for such a cynical and professional foul to warrant a yellow. Is it not usually the case that when such an incident goes unpunished on the field a suspension would be warranted?

Checked up on the law on this. It's illegal to make contact unless you try to use your arms. Note, try. Debatable whether or not he does. On balance, I'd reckon a penalty, but no more. Certainly wouldn't get you sent off, which is the test. Had no effect on Elsom or the game. A randomish balls-up, but Kaplan was liberal with them.

As it happens, I know what it was. Kearney's a former GAA player - and that was a perfect GAA shoulder. Interesting he reverted to it.

Main thing of note; lovely hands from Elsom.

And none of this changes the fact that ye blew a game ye had sewn up, even after we were th Still, how 'bout that silky NH backplay that meant you were under the cosh for the last ten...?

given what happned to palu he should have been yellow carded. same treatment all round.

If i was the ref i would have let it slide. Was illegal but really wasnt that bad. However given the decision on palu's tackle which definitly did not deserve a yellow then he should have got a yellow too. A ref has got to be consistant.

Pretty average play to be honest. You were facing a few rookies. Furthermore, you are trolling.

Jesus, Spook, is there no bait you won't rise to? It's not like the hook was even disguised, and still... :lmao:

And I had the lemon sliced and the coals hot for you, Spook. ;)

You know I reckon if Elsom didn't score it could have been a Penalty Try. Too add to that if a penalty try is awarded a yellow must be awarded as well.

That is a shoulder charge. Nothing more. Nothing less.

That deserved a ban. The laws are clear. No arms. No intention to use arms.

Any fool can see that.

I don't think you understand Thommo's rules, Blue.

Irish Player = no yellow card required

Non-Irish Player = yellow card justified no matter what really happened.

That's a bit harsh, Scotty. Thomo attempted to argue his corner using the facts at his disposal, he is a lawyer after all. But he, and we, should keep in mind lawyers sometimes lose cases no matter how competent and eloquent they are.

:lmao: Read it again before you embarrass yourself some more. This really is so sweet. This whole thread was an elaborate trap to show you up - my trojan horse if you will. :lmao:

if the outcome (try or no try) had been different i think a lot of views would be different. but citings are also supposed to be judged on intent, which is the same regardless of the outcome.

also it was a reasonably sized back against man mountain elsom. if it had been bakkies against quooade and he spilled the ball and got knocked out, i know what we'd all be saying. i could go either way on this one.

Thommo, you are scaled and gutted, buttered and in the pan. Have a nice fry.

If fish were even a little less dumb, anglers would always go home empty handed.

No possibility. If Kaplan and his assistants thought that way, he would have carded Kearney and awarded Australia a penalty on halfway after the conversion. Check the Law.

I reckon had Elsom not been such a tough fucker, he could have died.

And if Palu had actually hit the Irish bloke high, he would have died.

That is all.

As it stands, all that died (a little bit) was rugby.

Post of the year, by several country miles.

Mods, can we have a Post of the Year thingy and the capacity for us to add individual posts progressively? The collection at the end of a year would be priceless.

Looks like he bought the dummy, Blue...

BTW, funny how Spook chows down on the hook, then edits his post to say he spotted it - with the taste of metal still on his mouth - then claims he planned it all along. Almost Gatlandesque in the dedication... ;)
