This comment is the one that caught my attention:

"He says there is a succession plan in place but it is for his own successor, likely to be anointed earlier in 2013, to choose to activate."

Before Robbie's comments yesterday that he wants to stay on to the 2015 RWC, the succession could only involve one of two people, couldn't it -Link or Nucifora?

Does this comment suggest that Nucifora is the plan, hence his elevation to a coaching role now in anticipation of the succession plan, which may be out the window now if Robbie can get the Wallabies to perform in 2012/13 and seeks another extension.

God I hope not.....but maybe some of the current selection issues were not of Robbie's creation............

Extract from Article on RWC 11 Ltd Boss Martin Sneddon

After living in New Zealand his entire life, he said he would happily move to Australia or England to take up a new job - preferably remaining in cricket or rugby circles.

We have a kiwi coach, why not have a kiwi CEO as well? At least then both NSW and QLD unions would be united for once in their perennial whinge that "We was shafted" over senior appointments in ARU.

In my opinon, JON's second stint has been an abject failure. As I see it, there should have been two focus areas of attention during this stint....and neither of them has anything to do with the Wallabies.

1- growth of the game (i.e. increase in participation numbers, consolidation of existing rugby competitions, increase in support to junior clubs, unification of club and school junior comps, increase in coach participation and qualifications).
2- reintroduction of 3rd tier comp. This needs to seriously happen to facilitate the accelerated (or otherwise) development of the semi-professional player.

Unfortunately, JON has none of these subjects high in any priority list. His management philosophy appears to be that the development of Australian rugby starts and ends with the Wallaby squad. Thus compounding the issue that rugby has NEVER taken itself to the people and it still remains a closed shop for the old boys of GPS schools.

One question I would like to ask, a few years ago, the ARU took over the community rugby section of nswru in order to improve the quality of development and coach education in the largest populated state. Has that improvement happened?

Talking to the 4 senior premiership clubs in western sydney, only 1 of them actually know what the ARU development officer looks like, and that is because that particular club GM used to work with him........

The ARU under JON has been a major disappointment and has set the game back to 1999 levels.......with the example being the tactics employed in the bronze final.

And JON's successor, will most definitely be Matt Carroll. The man who allegedly sent nswru broke in 1996 because of over committing to player payments when the game went professional........

And so the chaotic staus quo will continue. Perhaps the All Blacks beat the Wallabies in the semi just because it was a team made up of hard core farmers and guys who graduated from the school of hard knocks from South Auckland....instead of the mean streets of Mosman!!!

rugby needs an eccentric billionare backer to take charge. There can be a board, but it needs someone willing to waste large doses of money on something thay love. anyone know anyone, i can give em a buzz.

Gee you are a real 'Ideas Man' waratshjesus.
:)
How about a rich aussie movie star who likes rugby
the mungos have Russell Crowe
I wonder what code Mel Gibson follows...

Rusty Crowe is well suited to mungo land - throwing phones at Domestic Staff in US Hotels and so on, Setting the standard for defecating in Hotel corridors, mates shoes, urinating in the streets, ..... of mungo ball.

'Bout all we can manage as the Third Speaker for the Affirmative is Biebers foodfight, and a powderpuff fight in Paris between Bieber, Gilbert and QC (Quade Cooper) - perhaps the Brumbies and a certain Taxi meter in Safferland- Melon was it?

Rusty Crowe could teach the leather patches a thing or two about boorish behaviour.
