As you can see in the article above. GI is looking outside of mungo thanks to another colossal screw up by that code. With WC just 12 months out, GI's huge following in Melbourne, and our need for some size to our backline; why on earth is Rugby, the Wallabies and the Rebels not even a consideration at this stage?

The article said he is struggling to pay his mortgage and there is even doubts about whether he can play AFL due to not being in the draft. In light of these problems, you would expect we can pick him up on the cheap. What an opportunity!

He might have to play in the pigs now with the size of him and his apparent lack of pace. He ran dead last in the Gatorade Bolt which Lachie Turner won. I'm not sure I agree he would be a great investment.

He certainly would add some size to our backline at the moment. Just a little too much, if you know what I mean...

No, no, no. By all means, he should head off to France for a season or two to pay off the mortgage, but I don't think we need another league recruitment disaster on our hands.

I think it's a credit to JON that rugby hasn't even been mentioned in all of this - mind you, it's probably only hours away, if he's talking to AFL.

I'm pretty sure he's missed out on the AFL for next year. All the clubs have definitely finalised their senior lists. As far as I know he could only go on a Rookie list, which is what the article seems to be referring to. That would mean he could only play senior AFL if another player retires or is on the long-term injury list. Also, AFL prescribes maximum payments for first and second year players so he would be limited to about $115k year one, and $170k year two, IF he managed to play more than 16 games in his first year. If he is worried about his mortgage he can't afford to go to AFL. The third party deals are more heavily scrutinised in AFL than league, so I cant see him topping it up too much there.

If he is worried about money I think the only choice is for him to go to France, although I did hear on the radio last night, the Rabbitohs were trying to work out how many players they needed to sack to get GI in under their salary cap. I say let the French develop him, and if he's any good he can come back and play Super Rugby.

The Rebels are pretty flush with league recruits at the moment, even if most are former Rugby players. Maybe he should head to the Reds. I thought thats where his girlfriend was which was part of the reason this whole saga began in the first place.

The only bloke with an IQ that would match the total numbering of a Rugby Front Row.
Loose canon, fat as a fool, dumb as dogshit.
Great league football player but why would we take the risk

As others have said, let him go overseas and try his hand in top 14 or something similar.

If he turns out alright, then why not consider him in the future? Too much of a risk without ever having played professional Rugby Union.

If he settled down and stuck to footy, the bloke could be an absolute weapon, he certainly has the physique when in peak condition to be a decent 13.

He is a high risk but the return on investment could be enormous. Also do not forget he is a marketing tool as well as a potential star player.

Could is the operative word here. Let him decide where he wants to go. If wants to give union a crack put him towards France to learn the basics and it will allow the ARU to see if he is worth it in a year or two's time.

When GI is fit he is devastating in the NRL, apparently he had a hip problem all this year which is probably why he didn't perform well in the sprint.

If he were to transfer across he would probably have the biggest potential compared to the others who have come across. Would bring a real x-factor to the rebels backline (at 13) that few union players would bring

However his past has let him down a whole lot, too much off field nonsense which doesn't sit too comfortably with an investor. Although i would like to see his talent in the wallabies, GI the man doesn't seem like a great investment

Plus the fact he is really fat atm

With what TOCC,

That he is a great league player when fit?, dont think you can disagree with that

That he had a hip problem?, he had surgery in the off season

That he would have the biggest potential than most of the league-ies that have already come across?, he is 23 and has already won world player of the year in league (golden boot winner)

Would bring a real x factor?, well he is one of leagues best therefore will be interesting to see how he goes, plus if he can transfer his skills to union he will be awesome

Off field stuff? , check his wikipedia page

He is fat atm?, see the picture in the article

Risk reward! for a 250k investment we could get:

1 One of the most talented mungo's to ever play the game who also happens to be the genetically perfect 13. A position we have huge issues in since Morty lost his form.
2 With all of the racism recently from the John's and Tahu saga and his huge following in the Aboriginal Community, this could make union a viable option for future Aboriginal stars who would otherwise go straight into league or AFL.
3 A huge crowd and media sensation for either the reds of the Rebels. Especially the Rebels in their maiden year.
4 A viable solution to the SBW offload which may cost us a WC due to our miniature back line.

All that reward for just risking 250k is a pretty good trade. One quarter of what we risk on Matt Giteau who, when he is not on our bench, bides his time crabbing across defence lines and missing game winning penalties.

I agree with Joe although they may need to keep an eye on Inglis.

250k would be a bargain, especially if he worked for it

For those who dont watch league, Inglis is one of the best and perfectly suited for Outside centre

People may say he is not intelligent but have a look at his decision making skills on the field. some of the those fends, passes and offloads are sublime. Check 4mins in on Dobduff's video. Also @ 8mins18sec probably the biggest fend in of all time. Incredible

He is also a sponsorship liability, he hasnt even signed with the Rabbitohs and he is already leaving them in a bad light, he never actually signed with the Broncos and he made them look like shit.

People like Harold Mitchell(owner of the Rebels) was even heard in a interview stating that the reason he is alligning himself with Rugby Union over rugby league or afl is becasue of the off-field behaviour which continually tarnishes those codes.. You only need to look at all the bad light that Matt Rodgers, Timana Tahu, Wendell Sailor and Lote Tuqiri brought in there short time in the code.

Id give him a go at 12 since we seem to be lacking in that area. Its a long-shot but if you get him for a good price and stick him at the Rebels you got nothing to lose.

TOCC: I said that Gi the man doesn't seem like a great investment and that he had too much off field nonsense, his talent would probably be appreciated though

I wouldn't play him at 12 though seb he isn't the best passer and there are a lot of 12's capable of playing just need to pick the right one

Could potentially play him on the wing if he lost some weight
