What a game. . . . best game of club rugby, and the best display of defense I have seen in a long time. . .

I honestly can't separate the sides - the only thing that was clear is Queanbeyan have the best scrum in the comp by a fair way and Sok NEEDS to be playing 1st grade.

Vikings biggest weaknesses this year have been the front row > which come scrum time could not handle the Whites at all and their back-row which finally stepped up today and made a big difference.

Honestly like I said I can't separate the sides - either team honestly could of won.

A quick must mention is the 2nd grade Whites side - they are insanely good - beating Vikings 18-7 - Honestly if they were playing 1st grade they would prob be sitting in 4th place - they are a great side.

Couldn't agree more!

What a great day of footy.

The Vikings scrum was hopeless I don't know what the answer is there. I saw Mcgrath warming up. Which I guess means he's on the come back trail which should help. He had a long conversation with the replacement prop. Whatever he said seemed to work (I don't know much about front row play).

I've avoided the Noa Oakmon-Hunt debate because I believe they're totally different players and can't really be compared. However I think oakmom-hunt had it all over Noa today. That's all I'll say on that.

But it really could have gone either way. The defense from both teams was unbelievable. You could hear the collisions from the sideline.

A late try to queanbeyan and a late penalty goal to Vikings. All in the last 5 mins. Best game of footy I've seen in a long time.

Walking away from that game I honestly couldn't tell you who the favorite to win the comps. It was really that close.

Hopefully the test tonight is as entertaining.

Yep mate - great day!

Mcgrath played in the 2nd's game as a sub - so I would say he would be back into 1st grade possibly next week - I am no expert so I have no idea what is going on in the scrum for the Vikings but they really need to sort it out.

Vikings did the sneaky playing Thompson for some minutes in 4th grade today so they could have him as a fresh sub in 1st's from the looks of things haha - I have seen them do this before.

I was prob abit quick to compare Oakman-Hunt and Noa a few weeks ago - I do agree they are totally different sorts of players and yes I think Oakman just edged out Noa today - as mentioned the Vikings back row I believe is one of their biggest weaknesses this year but Hitchins, the young 7 and Oakman really stepped up their performances today and it made a difference.

Sok when he was on made a huge impact - I really think they need to consider pushing Jones back down to 2nd's possibly and bringing Sok into 8 > Noa into 6 - Jones has been a gun all year but Sok just brings that extra edge and experience - and I don't know if they can get away with one out n out 2nd rower if they dropped Leaper for example.

Also for Whites they may want to consider bringing Danny Matthews back into the 1st grade side - its much of a muchness but I think he may bring abit more punch.

I'll give you ratings for the Uni/Royals game this weekend at ANU North. Should be an absolute pearler. Tipping Royals by 40.

Mate what happened to Royals!

Anyone know the points for a draw? 2 each?

Because this result is bringing Wests very close to cracking the top 4 I think - will have to have a look once the ladder is updated. . . .

Can you put a line through Royals for 2016? Neither Unis or Wests will bump them out of the four but the form doesn't look good. A Tuggies v whites GF must be shortening in the odds.

Thanks very much to No.8 in particular (mate do you get paid to post here or what?) and Macka for match reports from Queanbeyan. Nice to get some idea of what actually happened in the game, which you would never get from reading the Canberra Times. Would have been great to open the paper this morning and read about the heroics of Jones and Penca in a beaten side, or the displays of DOH, Hitchens, or any number of the Vikings players. Instead there is a puff piece on Andrew Smith, who was solid but unspectacular in his return from injury (which you also wouldn't have gleaned from the article).

Did Out of the Woodwork get to the royals uni game?

Honestly not sure mate - I wrote them off last year and look what happened haha.

Royals are a great side, with a good mix of experience and youth - not going to write off any side this year to be honest (besides Easts).

Haha I wish mate - Green and Gold if you're listening your very welcome to put some money in my Account!

I hope I give a true reflection on games and don't let my Whites love come through too strong haha.

I see you mentioned Hitchens - just a quick note that he got injured late in the game and looked semi-serious so we could see Hitchens out for awhile - this will be a big blow for the Vikings - even though his form has been hot and cold this year he is a great club man and pump's the boys up alot. . . plus Vikings depth in the back row is not good this year. . .

Uni started the game strongly after an early try. We hit back through our speedy winger Going. The students scored on full time and missed the kick. 10 all draw, probably a fair reflection of the game, although the blue baggers dominated stages of the match. Mixed bag across the day, we took 4s and colts, Uni won 2s and the ladies game and draws in 3rd grade and the main game. Uni coach Dan Hooper suited up for a gallop in 4s too but had no influence as the blue baggers stormed home 33-7. Looked like Uni were having their ladies day too.
It was a great day at the footy.

tight 5 worked hard all day, backline were missing a few blokes so we were a bit disjointed. We'll be better for the run.
Sounds like a bashfest between qbn and vikings, I bet there were some bruised lads hitting the Campese showers after the game. Shame the Whites missed out, would have been a big win for them!
Ah well, on to next weekend!

Re: backrow, they also had a busy day.
Apologies for the no.8 style triple post, but I think we have some of the best depth in the comp in this area. I can't split Qbn, Royals and Vikes. Bring on the next few weeks I say!
Cheers

Cheers mate! Looks like Royals have the BYE next week and then depending on results should be a 3rd V 4th spot game - with them playing the Eagles.

Hopefully they can bounce back and get a good win V Eagles - they don't have the easiest run home -

Round 13 - BYE
Round 14 - Eagles
Round 15 - Whites
Round 16 - Easts
Round 17 (Last Round) - Vikings

So the Eagles game becomes very important in regards to keeping them in touch and building some momentum into some bigger games and the finals.. . .

Round 13 -

East V Uni - @Griffith

Wests V Whites - @Jamison

Vikings V Eagles - @Viking Park

Royals - BYE

Once the ladders are updated today/tomorrow I will get some information up regarding the lower grades with only afew rounds to go - i.e 4th grade look pretty "traditional" in regards to the placing but 3rd grade could see some of the "normal" sides not taking place in the finals this year which is a big shake up.

Also to give you guys the heads up if you check out ESN - Echo Sports Network on facebook - these are the guys that do the live stream and are posting "hightlights" of the match of the round games on their FB - I have asked where we can get full replys but no reply just yet.

Have heard whispers that the ACT griffins will be part of their own comp with similar teams from other states. Can anyone deny/confirm?

They had the ACT side playing during the NRC comp last year (not sure if they were under the Griffins banner - can't remember) - and it wasn't a full-blown comp i.e playing warm up matches to NRC Games, playing NRC development sides etc - think in total they may of played 4-5 games.

I would say they would run along the same structure as last year - but would be cool to see a full blown comp > basically running along side the NRC comp > playing before NRC games/Final etc.
