Vikings 12 - Whites 9

Well done to Uni!

Whites 2nd grade beat Vikings - 7-5 - all other grades to Vikings.

I was at the Qbyn vs Vikings 1sts game today. It was a hard fought tussle and could have gone either way. Average refereeing didn't help! Both teams worked hard. They should both be proud of their efforts.

How was the oval yesterday after the rain? Big old mud bath lol

Its looking more and more like a Vikings V Qbyn Grade Final in every grade.

How do they set the finals up? 1 V 2 and 3 V 4 Semi's - winner of 1 V 2 straight to the grade final - loser players the winner of 3 V 4 to move into the grade final?

Yeah that is exactly how the finals work, i hope you're right about QBN taking on Vikings in all grades, would be a good day for our club to have all grades in, a lot of hard work to do between now and then though. Would like to think we could knock them off in a few of those grades.

Second grade was an outstanding game, they always are in second grade between our clubs, i might be a little biased but the referee was the only reason Vikings stayed in the game.

Vikings seem to have the upper hand in 3's and colts, a couple of ex-first graders helping their 3rd grade team.

4th's was a good close game. Vikings getting up by 5!

When Adam Friend was there he was employed by the Brumbies somehow wasnt he? and then was also doing the Easts gig - could they set something like that up again? Or is it simply not a viable option? How many coaches would be in a paid position currently? Vikings coach?

As I understand it he was employed by Easts with money from the Brumbies, that's why it is not acceptable why he didn't do anything in his time there to improve their roster. Don't think the Brumbies now have the money with the Community Rugby funds being cut from the ARU. Vikings have more than just Brad Harris being paid. I believe Osbourne was on $30k to coach Easts. Our coach on QBN is a paid part-time gig but less than half what they are paying at Easts. Robberds is full-time at Wests. Royals coach Ingram is employed by the Brumbies, but that is associated with his gig at Royals, but Royals do have a full-time staff member. Finegan at Gungahlin is part-time, not sure if it is paid and i have no idea about the set-up at Uni-Norths.

I think def in 3rds/4ths it will be a Vikings V Qbn Final (unless something crazy happens) - 2nds is looking very likely aswell - 1sts is a little harder to say but it is looking promising and Colts - they are 1 and 2 on the ladder (have not really been following Colts much this year though)

What a huge day it would be - I dont think you can get any better than Vikings V Qbn.

Do you know if Gunghalin still have a full time development officer?
When Glen Cristini was at QBN was that on a full-time basis?

Not sure about Gungahlin, although I don't think they do. Yes Christini was full-time as was Kim Thurbon before him. This was when clubs received funding from the Brumbies, since this has stopped there is no way our club could afford a full-time coach!

Ah I see, thats a shame really isn't it, when did the funding stop? Thanks for the info, haven't lived in Canberra for a while now. Is Kim Thurbon still around coaching anywhere?

Vikings ran rampage in the other grades -

2nds - 56-7
3rds - 88-10
4ths - 72 -5

Anyone got the scores for the lower grades?

Anyone else catch what Ingram (the royals coach) had to say for himself in the paper yesterday? Interesting stuff from a bloke that is employed by the Brumbies in a development (?) role.

Can understand his frustrations, with their much hyped season slipping away from them, but it was pretty unprofessional.

What was said?

Royals just have not fired this year - I dont think many of the clubs have really kicked into full gear - its been a weird season which is almost over already!

Super win from the Brumbies. Will this impact on clubs getting players back? Heading out to Jamison tomorrow for a look at Wests and Tuggies. Cant wait! Anyone else watching games this weekend?

The Tuggeranong V Wests game/s have been moved to O'Conner Enclosed ovals - looking at their FB page.

Gungahlin 19 def Queanbeyan 15
Royals 27 def Easts 5
