So O'Connor to play in europe until early 2015 then return to Australia for the 2015 super rugby and try and crack the world cup squad?

He would have to show some stellar form for Toulon. Where he will sit behind wilkinson and gits. And likely not get much time

And lays a steaming turn on another team who bent over backwards for him. So long Exiles.

Exactly. Remarkable really

I don't think they will effect is name on the team sheet too much. Halfpenny might though. Which would mean he would take a wing spot.

How they can afford that roster is mind boggling.

The articles doesn't really elaborate on the term of his signing with RCT, only that he could play a year at RCT. Gives him bugger all chance to get back in time for a S15 pre season. Then again, who wants him? I'll put a pint on the fact he will not play S15 and RWC 2015.

Feel sorry for the Not Nots, but they signed him probably knowing this would happen anyway.

Also love Google translate trying to describe his misdemeanors as 'extra sporting issues'. Go Google!!

Toulons backline next season will be awesome:

9. Tillous-Borde (Claassens)
10. Wilkinson (Michalak)
11. Habana (Palisson)
12. Giteau (Mermoz)
13. Bastareaud (?)
14. O'Connor (Mitchell) (Smith)
15. Halfpenny (Armitage)

Which is on paper as good as what I consider to be the best Super Rugby backline of recent years, the 2011 Crusaders:

Ellis
Carter
Guilford
SBW
Freuan
Maitland
Dagg

The 2003 Blues backline doesn't rate a mention, Bowside, or is 11 years not recent enough ;)

Gibson
Spencer
Caucaunibuca
Tuitupou/Gear
Muliaina
Rockocoko
Howlett

I thought that Wilkinson was retiring? Or is next season his last then?

Gits is no spring chicken either these days, he'd be about 32 this year or so.

I'll chuckle if they sign JOC (James O'Connor) to play at 10, he needs heaps of time to develop there and I doubt Toulon would be patient for the money they'd be paying him. JOC (James O'Connor) has (nearly) all the skills, but he just ain't a five eighth. He may get there in a couple of seasons, but only an insane person would pick him at 10 in key games and expect him to perform.....especially going on his limited showings for the Rebels at 10.

I guess we'll have to wait on the details, because he's either:

a) Signed a short term contract with the aim of playing Super Rugby in 2015, or

b) He's signed a one year contract that would see him still playing in France next year
