Nah not a good buy for the Rebels they would be better chasing a good Aussie openside.

Or just any nationality openside rather than 4 good quality 4/6/8 players to fit in to their back row (Luke Jones, Gareth Delve, Scott Higginbotham and now Jerry Collins) meaning one may not even be in the 22 with no notable 7. I'd say as said previously, this rumour is simply that, just rumour.

Meet up with jc at the local watching warriors and maly game. (first round). Said he sent a resume in to rebels.
Asked what position and said 7 or 6. With pocock looking around could be a team to recon with.

Everyone saying Collins is past his use by date, he is only 31. That does not make him past it he could have a couple of good seasons left in him.
I like the idea of him on the bench covering Higgers and Delve and Jones covering lock.

Why don't the rebels sign some decent marquee players like the Sharks with Michalak and the Stormers a season or two ago with Chris Jack. I don't think the Rebels or any australian outfit really needs more than one marquee anyway so you may as well make it a really good one.

.. and then bemoaning our lack of depth come test match time.

Two and two?

However we should encourage our declining stars to take all the key slots in NH clubland to reduce the development opportunities to their up and coming players. :)

Perhaps even export some of our good young'uns over there for a year or two to develop at their expense before they return for a tilt at Gold. Used to work in the old days of County Cricket.

Yeah fantastic idea.. spend around $300'000 on a player who will only stay at the club for maximum 24 months, likely only 12months rather then trying to sign a promising young junior who will reward the club in the long term...

... and lets not forget the likelihood of injuries and longer recovery time for the elderly. There's nothing like spending the club's salary on a player who does a ligament in the second round.

Jerry's looking for a retiremnt village. Maybe put a contract clause in, something to the effect of 'No pay for time off the field'?

Yes GO, and he may have a continence problem, as I remember one Bledisloe match where he only just lasted through the National Anthems and the Haka before having to relieve himself mid-field!!

How did he actually go for the Ospreys?
One must assume those hits he has done have slowed him down a lot.

The second half of the highlights is the Ospreys - but it might be a few years ago.

You are on the money Mr!! He has indeed been in negotiation with the Rebels (and also looking at the Blues)...the sticking point is that JC wants a 3 yr deal, not a 1 year. Talks are continuing.

With the Blues or the Rebels? He won't get a 3 year deal out of us, for various reasons.
