I certainly can't criticise the guy for putting his family first.

The line about having his coaching prospects blocked while he was here in Australia - really? I can't imagine heading back to Sth Africa under these circumstances improves his international coaching prospects.

I think the Pumas are his most likely option. Probably getting back into SA rugby would help that given they conference are/might join. To my understanding the most reliable rumour is that he will take some type of side kick role at the Sharks? Meaning he could be setting himself up like Link did, in that he's involved with a super rugby franchise but can down tools at any moment to take up an international coaching position.

Another view, be it very cynical is that he has produced a minor miracle at the Brumbies and that it would be very hard to better this in 2014, therefore he is cashing out whilst his stocks are up.

But hey.....it's all hearsay/speculation/deciphering messages from my plate of wontons.

Cape Town – Jake White will not be joining Western Province or the Stormers in any capacity following his resignation as Brumbies coach, but he could be headed to the Univesity of Stellenbosch as the Director of Rugby.
The Cape Times understands White has applied for the job at Maties, although there’s been no official confirmation from either camp.
White has left his Brumbies post just two months after guiding them to a Super Rugby final defeat against the Chiefs despite still having two years remaining on his contract.
White was immediately linked to possible posts at the Stormers and Sharks.
“I can assure you that this story is unfounded and is totally out of line. Jake White is not in our plans. We haven’t spoken to him and there have definitely not been any meetings with him. We are not looking at Jake White at all,” WP Rugby Union president Thelo Wakefield told the Cape Times.
WP Rugby chief executive Rob Wagner also dismissed the speculation. “We are aware that top-class coaches and players will always be linked to jobs or opportunities at the Stormers or WP, but we have not had any talks or negotiations with Jake White,” he said.
The Sharks have issued a statement saying they are open to talks with the former Springbok coach.

I would be surprised though as it is a step down but it could suit him until an international opportunity opens up.

His immediate results with the Brumbies just enhance his reputation that he is ready to go immediately after a lengthy layoff. I'm sure any international team wouldn't hesitate to pick him up after a couple of years cooling his heels at the Uni. I would think if he wants a true tier 1 team, he will have to bide his time and pick something up after the 15 RWC.

I hope this doesn't create bad feeling in the organisation. If so, can the Brumbies opt for Bernie and Laurie to be made Wallaby forwards coach in the interests of harmony.

Regarding Jake's decision, I can understand people being disappointed but he doesn't strike me as being less than honorable a man. He has earned the benefit of the doubt and his reasons are none of our business. I just think of how he spoke of his players and his staff after the Super Rugby final and it was nothing short of genuine.

This will create opportunities for others and who ever they are, just keep the Brumbies moving forward.

I've heard it could be up to a month to appoint a new head coach because Pat Howard (from Cricket Aus and former Brumby) is on the panel and he is locked in to go to India with the cricket side, which is obviously his priority.

Why so long to appoint Fisher or Larkham? Surely it could not drag on for that long. Is it not a certainty that one of the assistants will take over? I imagine the players would not be happy if an outsider came in.

Might be Howard's priority, but not the Brumbies. Matter should be put to bed asap and if Howard isn't available, go with someone else on the committee.

Its the off season plenty of time to consider a new head coach, meanwhile the Brumbies have signed their squad for 2014 anyway... its post 2015 and who will stay without Jake White is the question for me, he clearly attaracted a few players... I like Laurie but feel he has had a shot I think its Bernies time... The brumbies will know if he is ready or not but both he and laurie should put in their vision as a head coach to the panel for consideration...
