I would have thought that Simmons will be 6 in the scrums and 4 in general play, with Timani as 4 in scrums and 6 in general play.

I would have thought that if that was the case Timani would be at 6 and Simmons at 4..

Dunno. I always imagine the numbers as the set piece of a scrum in motion. I struggle to imagine it any other way like a kick off, or a ruck, or a line out. How do you figure it?

I doubt it necessarily matters what number they have on their back though.

i think after that loss last week link realises he cant take risks this week and needs a W thats why hes not risking unmatchfit tpn
re simmons @ 6
here is a few 6s to compare with

rob simmons
Height: 2.00 m
Weight: 115 kg

jerome kaino
Height 1.96 m (6 ft 5 in)
Weight 113 kg (249 lb)
rocky elsom
Height: 1.97 m
Weight: 106 kg
ben mowen
Height: 1.95 m
Weight: 114 kg
scott fardy
Height: 1.98 m
Weight: 113 kg
scott higgenbotham
Height: 1.95 m
Weight: 110 kg

hes a bit taller than average which is to be expected, interesting how the best runners of the ball elsom and higgenbotham are 5-10kgs lighter than most, hes actually a lot closer to kaino than i thought> will be interesting if hes got the ticker for it tonight thou?

I would be very surprised if Mowen is over 110 kgs. He certainly doesn't play like it.

Looking forward to seeing Liam Gill get an extended run and seeing what effect he has on our breakdown work.
I don't think throwing big bodies in there is the answer. Our back row lacks balance once again without a recognized 8, a 6 playing 8 and no fetcher.

well, to put it simply the strength of a 4 is in the set piece, i.e scrum and lineout, whereas the strength of a 6 is in the open play.. these days the 6 is a 3rd lock, but the most mobile of the three. 4,5 & 8 used to be relatively interchangeable, but nowadays 8 is a much more specialised & technical position, so the additional size is usually found in the 6. Which is why you often see provincial locks picked as national flankers. 20 years ago he'd be at 8. That make sense??

Well I guess I can stomach this match, until the headline tests.

Getting worried after seeing those grizzled Italian forwards.

Hopefully someone squirrel gripped Timani to make him angry for this one.
