The google translation reads like something from North Korea:
The franchise Canberra, double champion Super 15, is currently facing huge financial difficulties. Its leaders must find 8 million Australian dollars as the main sponsor has to postpone its investment. The future of the team is outstanding.

The Australian she will disappear the Brumbies, the most glorious franchise that has two Super 15 titles (2001, 2004)?The risk is real, because the franchise of the capital, Canberra, must find 8 million Australian dollars to make ends meet. A money pit that was dug largely by the recent defection of its main sponsor, the Chinese telecommunications giant Huawei, which was to bring four million euros to expand its business and in Australia. Problem, the negotiations had dragged the Chinese giant in length. The company was waiting for confirmation that Christmas is coming, and it has canceled its investment in the Brumbies. Despite this change, it has not closed the door to a partnership. "We can do it later this year," said his spokesman. But time is short, less than two months before the Super 15.

The Tahs and Reds both had big debts and were bailed out by the ARU, so the precedent is there.

$1million over 4 years could have been the required amount needed to service the debt....

Think about a mortgage, you need a minimum annual income to meet your repayments...

Maybe that's what they are referring to..

Yeah, they had to bail out the joke team of the tournament, and the perennial undeachievers. The Brumbies, on the other hand...

The Brumbies, on the other, represent a tiny share of Australia's rugby market. Face facts, mate, your best days were largely built on NSW rejects, and the times have changed. Well and truly.

Sponsorship is usually a pretty good yardstick as to which franchises are the jokes.

The Brumbies will not be allowed to go under - they have too much potential income from the property development project that is in the pipeline.

Given that the precendent has already been set by the bailing out of other clubs, the ARU will not allow its most successful (to date) club to go under.

I agree with the move to private ownership - in Canberra the Vikings would be a good fit, given their track record of developing a strong rugby club as well as seperate successful clubs and investments.

They should move them to the NSW central coast and play a game or to in north Sydney to fill in the void left by other sports. I'm sure John singleton would jump on board, would be good for the sport.

Just kidding (but not)

The ARU with only five teams should make sure to have them were they want them to be. If they do. The funding should be practical for what that team needs. I know there would be teams up in arms if grants went equal but the reality is not all markets are the same and funding should recognize it. The ARU should bail them out, nt a question ab
Out it
