Last one for the 2013/2014 Season

Round 9
10-11 May 2014
Venue: Twickenham
City: London
Capacity: 82,000

Pool A
NZL
ENG
ARG
WAL

Pool B
CAN
KEN
SAM
USA

Pool C
FIJ
AUS
ESP
JPN

Pool D
SCO
RSA
FRA
POR

Looks like this is a sell out.

UK times
10 May 2014 - 10:06 Australia v Japan
10 May 2014 - 13:12 Australia v Spain
10 May 2014 - 16:38 Fiji v Australia

Assuming AUS gets 1 or 2 in Pool C, we face 2 or 1 in Pool B in the 1/4 finals. That could be anyone from Pool B - CAN, KEN, SAM (or even USA).

In terms of the overall standings, AUS is in 5th place 20 points adrift of the Soap Dodgers, and 15 points ahead of 6th placed Canucks. It is highly likely that we will remain in 5th place when London 7's are over.

The Darkness have the series in the Bag. 19 points ahead of the Saffers, they have to come last and the Saffers 1st in London for there to be any change at the top of the table. The last time something like that happened 5000 people were fed from a basket of fish and a basket of bread loaves.

Series points so far:
1. NZL 158 points
2. SAF 139 points
3. FIJ 129 points
4. ENG 117 points
5. AUS 97 points
6. CAN 82 points
7. KEN 72 points
8. SAM 69 points
9. ARG 68 points
10.SCO 60 points
10.WAL 60 points
12.FRA 58 points
13.USA 38 points
14.POR 25 points
15.SPA 15 points
16.JAP 7 points
17.TON 2 points
18=RUS, URU, ZIM,SRI 1 point.

1st day was sold out a week ago. (75,000). The Twickenham stoop is in action just down the road with a Harlequins game-estimates of 90k plus rugby fans around the stadia! Weather today is wettish and cold, or as they say here in England, summer.

Aus win 28-0 (HT 7-0)

Next game vs Spain. I think it will be at 10:12 pm Sydney time.

Aus 24-12 over Fiji. Completely dominated Fiji in the 2nd half. Excellent effort.

Face Kenya in first q'final tomorrow

the worst forward pass call of all time, surely. NZL-ENG 12-12, 50 seconds to go, NZL about to score from a breakout of their 22. Even the English commentators were absolutely puzzled which pass was called forward, because they were each not even close to flat. Refereeing has been atrocious in this game, someone was paid for England to win

Even the official IRB Sevens.com website liveticker said "far from it" in regards to the forward pass

Its those rugby ref gods again Tordah, making up for that botched end of game clan v lions.

It was an absolute howler though-forward pass my arse. I think the Welsh ref completely bottled it. Nothing worse than losing to the Poms.

Beating England in front of their home crowd would be nice.

Predicting Aus vs NZ final with Aus to win (come on let us win 1 event, not like you need the points). Plus the Poms would hate us winning more than you guys.

yeah, but good luck winning against England and their supporting team of cross eyed linesmen

Awesome result vs Fiji. Any victory over the Wizards should be celebrated.

If we can get past Kenya, then we are likely to meet the Soap Dodgers in the Semis.

They seem to struggle against us more than they do against other teams. Get some quick meat and we can nullify the effect of the rabid Charioteers from the grandstand.

Counting our chickens, I'm looking forward to watching our mob taking on The Darkness in the Final of the Cup.

I admire your optimism, Hugh. I have not seen any of this tournament yet, but we have had the measure of Kenya for a while now. But, as ever, it depends on which Kenya turns up.

As for the Dodgers, nup, they will be very, very difficult to beat on home soil.

Frogs in under the posts! 7-0
Crowd surprisingly silent.

Rodwell the ranga in, 7-5 at break. C'mon France!

France in again, 12-5

Poms through Mitchell hit back, 12-12

Vakatawa in in the corner, France 17-12

Poms in again, FT 19-17

Over to you now Australia.

the referee in Aus vs Ken is the clown from yesterday. Rhys Thomas. The forward pass call came from his assistant, but the ref was well in line to overrule that call. Funnily enough, Kenya just scored through a very suspect pass
