They ended up showing the finals on Tuesday night. Overall quite good games. I don't understand why Fox don't make more of this series (I.e showing both days live). If they don't want it I'm certain that a free to air network such as 10 would love the content.

I genuinely believe that 7s will bring more to rugby because it's easier to understand. It's a shame the ARU and the networks don't make more of it. If they just rely on the Olympics to generate interest here they're going to be bitterly disappointed. They need to build the interest first.

Unsure about Glasgow as a leg for the series. Stands were about half full and the crowd was vocal at times. Definitely not HK, Dubai or London

I don't understand it either. I know plenty of people that hate rugby and have zero interest in it but love the watching 7s.

Perhaps a national 7's series that could tour the country with state/regional based teams. That could be sellable to TV.

The only reason that Fox does not show both days of the Sevens is that it does not rate. I suppose.

Was a bit disappointed with the boys after they played so well in Tokyo: they seemed to lack physicality and got pushed backwards in the ruck and scrum, even by Wales. Against NZ they lacked a bit of 7s rugby nous, an area I thought they were improving in.

Still, to make the finals is nothing to be sneezed at.

PS - I wondered why Shannon Walker did not play more minutes on the final day. There may have been a reason mentioned, but I fast forwarded through some parts of the coverage and could have missed the info.

Might have been tactical I did notice he is quite a poor defender and doesn't do much at the breakdown.

I'd love us to have a local 7s comp. I just hope they don't go all BIg Bash on us and make up teams. I'd like it to come out of the Super rugby teams with Cookatoos, Black Falcons etc included. I think if it's to be developed for TV we'd need to truncate the format and squeeze it into a 4 hour package.

Probably right. Especially the 1st day, however the finals of Glasgow were on and Fox were showing an English county T20 game and then a show on the modern pentathlon.

I always thought Fox's set up was similar to Sky sports in the UK and Ireland since they are sister companies but I guess I was wrong.

Sky Sports showed all of the 7s but you would have to be looking out for it to see it all. Sky have 5 Sports channels and then Sky sports Xtra on their website. The sevens coverage moved around between Sky Sports 2-4 and Xtra for most of the Glasgow leg. Most of the final day was via the red button no Sky Sports 4, red button is their interactive service where you can choose what to watch, so while the main screen was showing cricket or something the 7s was still available as a choice.

The big problem with all the moving around is that you'd have to know the 7s was on and then go and look for where they are showing it. So not likely to attract too many new fans. But the past weekend there was so much 15s rugby on from Premiership & S15s on sky that 15s got a higher billing as expected.

Ok this is getting fucked. Why isn't Fox showing the London leg of the 7s. This is our national team FFS. When will they show it? Tuesday.
We need a Rugby channel.

We just lost to Argentina in the Cup QF 12-5 as well

no replies from Fox

Probably good they didn't show it... How did we not score in the 2nd half?

No replies from fox... They're so good with their rugby coverage.whats with the 7s?

Yet Fox showed the Dubai Sevens. Why the inconsistency?

Timing difference...around six hours behind Australia makes for peak time viewing whilst the UK sevens tourneys is have matches after midnight, that's my theory...and also Dubai sevens are at a time of the year when there's not much footy on i.e. AFL and NRL yet to start their seasons.
