This esoteric and long-winded conversation about rugby shin guards is shaping up as The Thread of the Year.

Had a look at some in Rebel today and they're great coverage Spooky but unfortunately had a plastic shell which discounts them according to Regulation 12 - "non-rigid" material only... Might just get the damn things strapped and wear a second pair of socks if that doesn't help...

Have you thought about going to a dive-shop, getting some neopren socks and cutting them to suit yourself? Padding and a bit of support, in one.

Nice idea Thomond - might look into that. Would give good cushioning on the plantar area too where I've got some issues.
