Nice one Rusty, Still think and Rob Louw agree with me on this one, we would have got that one in 1987. Glad I am not now on TSF. :lmao:

According to him the All Blacks B team won that one.

Old saying about "if ...": "and if your aunt had balls she'd be your uncle".

Clear?

I was many times told in RSA that Australia would not have won RWC in 1991 if the Bokke had been there. My usual reply was "does a score of 26-3 ring a bell with you/". That worked.

Oh OK, I dunno about 1991 but I do know the 1987 quite well. If you look at what the Bok class of 1981 achieved in NZ as rookies , pretty sure they would have achieve muxh higher in 1987. That Bok lot was pretty special to say the least. As you say if our aunts have balls but now they stuck with koeksusters.

This is 10 weeks old, but still funny..

Matt Damon has injured himself whilst on set during filming for a new movie set in South Africa.

‘The Human Factor’ is a biopic about the life of former SA president Nelson Mandela, which includes the prestigious event in which the country won the Rugby World Cup.

This milestone came in 1995, just after the first democratic election following the notorious apartheid era, with captain Francois Pienaar leading his team to victory before being presented with the trophy by Mandela.

'Bourne Supremacy' star Damon plays Pienaar in this true story, and despite having received extensive rugby training in preparation for the movie, apparently sprained his leg when he kicked the ground instead of hoofing the ball during filming.

"Matt has undergone months of rugby training for the role, with some famous players, but has had difficulty getting the technique right," explains a source in The Sun.

'The Human Factor' is being directed by Clint Eastwood and set for release in the US in December 2009.

ummmm.....I actually don't remember Francois kicking that much???

Unless he's actually playing Francois Steyn?

Well it's not how you remember the game that counts, it's how Clint Eastwood remembers the game... and if he remembers Franouis as kicking in the 95RWC then I'm not going to argue with Dirty Harry..

I don't think the movie is going to be so much about RSA winning the RWC as about the masterly manipulations by Nelson Mandela behind the scenes. I have not read the book but I read a long precis of it.

What's the problem with radically simplifying and sugar coating a complex event that's important to you?

I would have thought you'd be happy enough with the depiction of British officers in that movie.

Given the implication that the Munster Fusiliers were sitting on the beach having tea, not quite.

They were on the beach, alright. Washed up onto it. They never got onto it properly, never mind off it.

at Suvla" ..."the [English] officers are sitting on the beach drinking cups of tea".

I bet they were having tea (soldiers always have tea at every opportunity) whilst waiting around for the British command to give them orders (I think there was something like a week of indecision). Don't take it as a poor relfection of the soliders but rather of the British command.

The whole Gallipoli campaign was a monumental diasaster where opportunities to take the high ground were lost. Tis a pity Monash wasn't in overall command at that time.

Overall it was the perfect example of modern warfare with primitive communication.

In any case, this Invictus movie will be interesting, having an American playing a South African hard-arse.

It was also a perfect example of class warfare. The Aussies should've made peace with the Turks, whose children would all move to Australia anyway, and turn around and shoot the bastards.
