They must of been close.

Excellent points, Lee.Lee Grant said:I've said this before but we need a captain who is a forward, or at worst a 9, who can talk the talk with the ref.
In our dreadful game against Scotland last year their scrumhalf delayed the put in to the scrum. Euan Murray didn't play at THP that day; so we had scrum dominance which the scrummie wanted to counter by delay. We Aussies recognised the ploy because we had watched Gregan play for the Wallabies so often.
An astute captain would have been right up the referees date on the matter but Rocky didn't say boo. I don't think that Genia would have said anything either. Like it or not, but the Smits, the McCaws, the POCs and even the Dusautoirs of the rugby world add value to their team because they speak out judiciously. Referees are human.
When you go through the certainties for the Wallabies and think who would be best, there ain't a lot of options, but when you go around the list for the 2nd time you see two names and they are Sharpe and Pocock.
Too early to consider Pocock? Maybe, but if you know his history in Zimbabwe he was a man before his time.
So let's say Sharpe first as a bridge to Pocock in 2012.
In Perth to promote the upcoming Cook Cup clash with England at Subiaco Oval, Deans pondered possible replacements for current skipper Rocky Elsom - and named Will Genia first in a group including Nathan Sharpe, Pocock and Phil Waugh.
"The great thing is we have other players who are displaying leadership and who provide us with choice," he said of the captaincy.
Scotty said:Genia has got more vocal as the season has progressed. At first I was worried that he didn't say a thing to the referee, but he is getting better at it. Not that he is ready for the Wallabies job. That is at least another year away.
Scotty said:Not sure Biffo. Will be interesting to see.

well at least there would never be a mic put up to our team huddle.
while we are making those types of guesses, how about Daniel Halangahu?

Impossible, are you mad?
Elsom is going to get it, can't see any other option.

Waugh "captains" well in this way, being vocal enough but also respectful enough with refs to not piss them off. Eales was always polite, but once he grew into the captaincy was very forward about getting in the ref's ear. Gregan went a little over the mark at times.
I am not suggesting Waugh be the Wallaby skipper by the way, but he does that aspect of the job just how it should be done, I reckon.
