Smithy is unbearable. Even worst when HB plays in the ITM Cup. I think the love for the Saders started when Dagg and Guildford came over.

Mertz is an excellent expert comments man. He understands the modern game and is very levelled.

Tonight was the first time I have heard him show a bit of emotion and his Crusaders bias.

But he acknowledged he was showing it. Insight remains.

Actually Smithy kinda is a southern man, born in Nelson but transported north young enough that he played all his age-grade cricket & rugby for CD & HB. Clearly has some unresolved separation issues, even at age 58, as evidenced by his choice of domiciles: Napier & Tauranga being the north's best facsimile of Nelson (& I'll bet a penny to your pound that during his servitude in D'Auckland he lived out East rather than, say, Onehunga or Mount Eden).

You do realise that Smith is a Canes man
If he's a Canes man then I'm the missing fuckin' Whitelock.

Smithy's cheerleading and tactical advice for his Cantab boys (he NEVER does it for the opposing side) shot point-blank in the nuts.

Canes finally pull one back on their nemesis. All those losing semis. The lost fog final.

On the bright side for Smithy, Colin Slade has a new bitch. His name is Julian Savea. Almost cruel the way Colin toys with the inferior physical specimens. I think he might be in a gang.

Only ONE forward from either pack wearing all black boots; Owen Franks. The things looked like they were from the 1950's. 1-inch steel sprigs. Probably serrated. Julian Savea had pink boots on. Knee-high pink boots. I think Colin probably made him wear them.

Every now and then DP you talk some sense;)

Yep DP, but if you had played in 50s or 60s mate you would still think they no bloody good because your boots als=ways came up over ankles in those days!! Although I surely do agree about the colour, hell I remember in the 70s being embarrassed because I couldn't get boots without a coupla of white stripes on them, very gay I thought, and seemed to find I was having to remind myself I was a lock and couldn't seagull around with the nacy boys out the back!
