13-10 to the visitors at oranges but they've lost both their locks which will surely hurt them v the very physical 'canes pack.

Into the 2nd 40 & the 'canes have twice turned down kickable penalties in favour of lineout drives....... Another lineout-drive penalty, another lineout & Chiefs may have been given their final warning.

Savea A. with the inevitable try, pretty much in the corner so Marshall J. will struggle to add the extras. Misses, 'canes 15-13 Chiefs.

Far fewer empty baby-kak yellow seats this week & ground looks in great nick considering Wellywood copped a pretty good soaking during the week [EDIT: see map below]

Such a shame the comp structure makes it all but impossible for these teams to meet again in the GF..............

Ma'a on the receiving end of a lifting tackle by Squire (the irony! the irony!) who gets YC'd. A tad harsh perhaps but the refs have been pretty consistent on lifting tackles this year so he should've known better.

Try-time Nonu. Maybe. Jackson goes upstairs, no try, 5m scrum Chiefs ball. Their scrum will be a bit makeshift what with 2 x locks off injured & a loosie in the bin..........

^^^^^^^^^^ might've gotten away with just a penalty had he not let him go in mid-air but he did & at that point it was always gonna be a card. Munro seemed pretty clear on that.

McKenzie D. looking the goods as Cruden's stand-in, McKenzie M. clearly needs to head "home" to Christchurch next year :)

Squire back from the naughty corner, still 15-13 & 60 gone. Smith copped a knee from his prop & has gone off for a concussion test. Even if he passes, that should be his night IMO.

Try Sam Cane but McKenzie misses so Chiefs will have to score a try to win rather than just a kick: 'canes 22-18 with 3 to go.

Chiefs over but disallowed for a knock-on that was surely the result of a 'cane playing at it on the ground. Justice prevails, Chiefs get a 5m scrum as the siren goes......... makeshift scrum gets destroyed by 'canes who get the penalty. Game over & what a cracker.

Again, it really, really sucks that these teams almost certainly can't meet again in the GF.

Great game. Chiefs very hard done by at the end. The knock on was clearly caused by Eaves playing the ball on the ground. Should have been a Chiefs penalty.

But would it have mattered? They would've taken a scrum probably and got one anyway.

Had the Canes lost tonight, it would be put down to three unnecessary and poorly executed kicks when in possession on the attack with only 14 men available to the other side. First by Nonu, second by Jane and the third by Milner-Skudder. Ball in hand was needed at those times and surely scores would have come to them.

Dave Rennie on "that" TMO call:

"I've looked at it 10 times and I can't see how the Hurricanes get a scrum out of that, the guy on the ground is deliberately playing the ball. It was a defining moment of the game and when it goes up stairs the decision making should have been better. I don't think it's acceptable."

Can't say I disagree, should've been play on & Chiefs try or if no try Chiefs penalty. Not Hoffman-Ayoub terrible but still not good enough.
