What's the deal with the big 3M?

Is he coming home next year? Or, alternatively, is he at least in negotiations to come home next year?

Also has he gotten over his injury troubles?

I always liked the look of him and I'm curious. If he came home surely he'd be in the mix for the WC squad.

He would mighty handy as a squad player at the very least and might even snag a starting spot, should any of the current front runners be unavailable. I think he's a super player and has the right kind of mongrel needed in the pack right now.

Eddie Jones wrote an article the other week saying he'd just played MMM's team and he was awesome, scored 3 tries. then he injured his happy again.

Same old same old I'm afraid.

My mail is that he will not be back in Aus, from a reasonably good source. They would rather not be quoted.
Oops, was that an unsubstantiated rumour? :)

Shame, I loved watching him play he was all action & was easily the most dynamic lock/backrower getting around I've been looking for some footage of his classic games when he really ripped in so if anyone on the board has any of these old games on DVD or Video let me know as I would love to get my hands on them.

We could almost get 1 full time equivalent player by combining MMM and Vickerman! Just what we Oz rugby needs, 1 player for the price of two!

i was going to say something similar novo. no doubting the drive of either player, but they don't seem like much of bargain given the time they actually spend on the field.

I was thinking about Vickerman coming back & then the other day I saw Chris jack on the ITM cup & thought what a raging success his comeback to the south has been.

Next year or ever? Because we do have a Lions tour in 2013 which is as big an event as a RWC.

Well... good on him.

Better off that he makes good money in Japan where he will get injured less frequently then endure the frustration of being broken 3 out of every 4 weeks here.

I think it is a pragmatic decision on his part, rather than not wanting to be able to play for the Wallabies. I think the injury thing will always be a problem.

Hugh McMenimen has had serious neck, shoulder and knee injuries throughout his career, he missed out on 1/3 of all S14 matches during his time at the Reds because of injury..
