Fiji 40-7 France. Hayne got on for the last minute or so.

Hayne probably has something to offer - will be interesting to see if he can adapt to the fitness required before final Olympic selection.

I couldn't think of 2 football codes more different in terms of fitness required than gridiron and rugby 7s. One is almost all anaerobic, the other almost all aerobic.

SBW limps off & yet again we're down to 11 on finals day. WR (World Rugby) really need to look at letting teams take 14 players into a comp, on the proviso that two of them can only come into the match 12 if someone else is ruled out by an independently-verified injury.

NZ 14-14 USA @ HT.

That was just embarrassing. No disrespect to USA but 14-42 is ridiculous, not even Fiji or Sethfricka should be beating us by that much.

Wow! The Yanks destroyed NZ! Has a minor rugby country like the US ever beaten NZ by such a huge score in 7s?

Agree and he didn't have much any type of match fitness in the NFL as he wasn't on the field much. If it wasn't an Olympic year Hayne wouldn't be interested in the rugby7s he would be back at the NRL now. Ben Ryan doesn't want him, but has been told to play him and he gets a minute

Scotland 17-0 England & as they say in the classics, Poms were lucky to get 0. Almost eases the pain of our capitulation v USA. Beer moreso, tho :).

People often neglect the high-value sponsorship economics of Hayne.

He's a proven sponsorship magnet out of Australia, and maybe elsewhere.

Fiji Rugby is not just yet Manchester United, nor has its bank balance.

My view is that Fiji Rugby are allowing Hayne in solely for his marketing and sponsorship value; they need new sources of income and recognise a gift horse when they see one.

They all know to a man that JH will not see the green grass of Rio, unless Fiji is 30 up with 2 mins to play in the final there.

A couple of those results show just why 7's is so popular I reckon. On their day anyone can win and seeing USA so dominant against NZ and then Scotland beat Eng to 0 - when England had swept past Australia & FIji - was just brilliant, entertaining sport. We are spoilt as Rugby fans, we have so many wonderful comps in so many grades and forms of the game!

England were really poor in that match. It will be interesting to see who is picked to go to Rio, bearing in mind that it will be a GB team, not an England team.
