How do you pick a good Wallaby player from that crap?

PS I thought Horwill was ok. Seemed to be at least getting to the rucks and a few times he had his hands on the ball while on his feet but the ref decided to give the kiwis an age to get to the ruck and clean him out.

3.Pocock
2.AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper)
1.Genia

Just watched the replay again & Pocock was on his own at the breakdown I thought he had a good game.

AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) stands up week in & week out regardless of the opposition easily our most consistent player.

Genia's service was good only one bad pass to Fatcat but otherwise he had a good game consdiering the pressure the AB's were putting on the breakdown. Jimmy Cowan must have thought he was a league dummy half with the free ride he had last night.

Special mention: Benn Robinson.

Can O'Connor and AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) actually pass the ball? Our backs were getting white line fever and not passing to players better positioned than themselves...
so frustrating...
When was the last time our wings had some decent go forward ball with a bit of space. Midfield recievers just running sideways herding our wingers into the touch line. Another thing. Get the forwards out of the Fucking backline!!! Smith, Fat cat- repeat offenders. You are not backs. Hang behind and wait for a ruck.

You chose Smith Gagger. I also thought he played pretty well. Have you looked at the game again or any stats?

pffft, yeah but as I say it really wasn't with much conviction. I usually watch a replay first but couldn't bring myself to this weekend.

I also thought Pocock had a good game, but then I thought how could they both have and we still got smashed at the breakdown? I also saw Chis put in some hits, Horwill and Robbo over the ball. Seems to me that individually they weren't THAT bad, they just completely sucked as a pack.

Will probably start reviewing tonight together with some Prozac

By the way, surely the oppo has figured out that AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) is going to fend with his left and never pass?

AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) definitely needs to get the ball to his wingers - hopefully it'll come with more time at 13. He hasn't played there a lot.

At one stage he performaned a lovely step off his right and gave the ball to an inside runner on his which opened the Blacks. I think the ball was knocked on though after this ::)

I've now watched the replay - second by second - and I'd like to rescind my 3 votes for Smith (sorry Spook).

Pocock and Smith as a pairing were totally blown away at the breakdown, and put zero pressure on McCaw. I also agree with the ragdoll comments earlier about Pocock, except you can apply them to Smith as well.

Wellington was a reminder why the Smith at 8 experiment always eventually goes wrong. I'm hoping it was no accident that Dingo subbed Smith off at the end.

Noddy - can you swap Smith for Benn as my "3"?

Fair enough Gags. I couldn't bring myself to watch it again though. We need more bulk in the backrow but until Palu gets his mojo back, we probably should look at Rocky at with another genuine tall, big 6. Of course, our locks need to get stuck in. They did in BrisVegas but were poor in NZ.

Great work again :thumb

At 1:13, it shows an Wookcock on the ground holding onto AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) who is on his feet trying to get the ball. How is that legal? :nta:

I noticed this in BrisVegas as well..Deans has the forwards sitting out wide on number of plays. Presumably this is to support the ball carrier at the breakdown when the ball gets spun out wide. Well it doesn't bloody work. Deans may have felt he needed to to do this is as our backs are pretty small in general and might not have the size to keep the ball at ruck time. I think it shows we need some bigger blokes in the backs who can keep/protect the ball at the breakdown. The forwards need to stay together and commit numbers when they can - if the oppositon forwards are standing wide, pick and drive ffs. In any event, we need 3 big guys in the backline not 1. Ioane, Mortlock and AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) hopefully. If Mortlock is knackered, we need to find another hard running winger/fullback/centre who will attack the breakdown.

The only good thing to come out of this is that we know we played well below our best. It was terrible.

It was interesting to listen to ruggamatrix and the talk of the sameness of the Aus attack. Lots of quick ballplayers, but no " to go" guy to get us over the gain line highlights how much we have missed a "Mortlock" (& Lote IMHO).

The Irish coach a while ago said that Aus gets most of their forward momentum via our backs. At the moment the backs are only providing lateral movement

yep. That's true fp. And as Disco pointed out in another thread, having AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) at 15, Stirlo back at 13 and Diggers (hopefully) on the wing, gives us a bit of strength, size and direction. Who knows? Perhaps even Cummins on the other wing?
